My kid doesnt call DH dad?

posted 31st Dec
Over the last 2 months my daughter has called her daddy "shane" more and more. For the laast 2 weeks she hasnt called him dad or daddy at all. This doesnt bother him at all, nor doesnt it really bother me. And they are very bonded. But it shocks his parents and when we go out people dont know she is his sometimes lol, so recently I started just calling him daddy like I will hey "oh hey daddy can you help cecilia get her shoes" when she there and needs help with something. Because I think thats why she started it? She is still calling me mom. Has anyone else kids gone threw phases where there call you by your name?

Not me, but she called my mom Mom for awhile because that's what everyone else calls her. We just kept correcting her and I started really stressing "Grammy" when talking about my mom.

It's a normal phase. I went through it with my parents. DD is currently doing that with DH because "Mike" is an easy name to say. "Claire" isn't so easy. I think it's kinda funny, but DH gets his feathers all ruffled about it. Lol.

Yup. Clara calls her dad "jason" now, a lot. She's 2.5.
But I call Jason by his name and so does her brother, so, it's what she hears the most.
Her brother'll eventually call him dad too, and she knows Jason=dad, so, yeah haha

Yea I think its because they here us calling each other by name. It started with my husband and it hurts his feelings. She has never called me by name until the last two days and when she does I ignore her until she says moma. I really don't take it personal but I'm trying to correct it. It could just be a phase kids go through.

If you don't want it to stick I think it's important to correct him everytime. My daughter went through that stage and we always corrected her. Now she does it sometimes just to be silly, she is 3.

My kids both went through this phase but it was a lot longer with my daughter. She barely called him dad for like 6 months. She is 2 years and 4 months now and finally stopped calling him Kevin a month or two ago lol.

Did your dude care? Jason doesn't care, haha, like, he doesn't feel like 'less of her dad' cos of it.
He'll be down on the third floor, and she'll go to the stairs and just yell, "JAAY-SIINNN!" cos she hears me do it all the time, haha.
