advice?

posted 31st Dec
So my daughter will be a month old on January 5th, I live with my parents for the time being. I'm suppose to go back to work at the end of January, even though I would like to quit working and go to school full time, I don't think I can do that. My parents help me out alot by letting me live here, I don't want to ask them for diapers and such. So quitting isn't really an option since my BD isn't here.

I'm a waitress, making $2.13 an hour, walking out with between $50 to $75 bucks on the weekdays and between $75 to $100 on the weekends. If i wanted to cut down my hours, and still get what i need for my baby, do you think i should just do weekends when i go back to school? I don't get child support since my BD is in jail, but i do get some help from the state.

You can cut down to what's manageable, but I wouldn't cut down too much. It's always good to save some money if you can. Toddlers grow fast and clothes are expensive, plus all the things you need yourself.

It is possible to go to school & work as well. I go to a big university and I go Tuesdays and Thursdays full time. I'm at school from 9 am to 10 at night both days. I take over 12 credits which is full time. I also work between 30-35 hours a week- I work the other five days. Is there anybody who would watch your LO?

After DD was born, I scheduled as many of my classes as possible on Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday. Then, I was able to work the other two days, plus Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If I couldn't get my classes down to just two days, I scheduled the class/es as early or late as possible on the other days. I hope that made sense.

you are brave! my mom is willing to watch her, but she can only watch my LO Tuesday and Thursday and the weekends. I've done work and school at the same time but it was hard to keep up with my work hours

another reason why i don't want to quit is due to the fact of the jobs being so low, i don't want to risk being out of work for awhile!
