In 2010 I miscarried my first baby my due date with that baby was December 20th. My boyfriend and I at the time tried really hard to concieve again but we never could. I thought maybe I couldn't have children. On April 10th 2012 I got a positive pregnancy test. Later that night driving home a teenager ran a red light and hit my car, my air bags went off and my car was totaled. I was terrified I would lose the baby but the E.R. doctor assured me that the baby was so small and well protected and it would be alright. The next day I went to the o.b. and got a urine test done, it was negative. I went home and took several at home pregnancy tests and all were a faint positive. A couple days later the o.b. called and said my blood test results were positive! My entire pregnancy I was terrified something would go wrong and I would lose the baby. Every ultrasound I was afraid they wouldn't find the heartbeat but she was ok each time. I had severe morning sickness and lost weight at the beginning of my pregnancy and never gained it back. The o.b. marked poor maternal weight gain on my chart several times and we had to have lots of ultrasounds to make sure she was ok.
On top of all this in October my mom suffered from a severe nervous break down she was overly stressed and her mind just shut down. She couldn't even brush her own hair or dress and undress herself. She went into psychosis and was at a psychiatric hospital and would just scream and scream for a nurse and when the nurse would come in she would yell at them to get out of her room like she never called for them. My mom has never had psychological problems until this year. I use to breakdown crying because I found myself mothering her and taking care of her and I didn't know if she would ever be her normal self again. Her Psychiatrist was able to get her on the right meds and she slowly became her normal self again. She was able to be there for Leilani's birth and coached me through, cheering me on the whole way and telling me I could do it! It meant so much to me to have my mom their for the birth of her first grandchild.
It was so amazing to have my rainbow baby safe and sound in my arms and my mom by my side! Leilani Allyssa was born December 19th 2012 at 2:58 pm 7lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long! She is truly my little miracle and it was definitely the most memorable moment of 2012!
