I had to switch to gluten free because I have celiac disease. It's a hard diet for me to follow but it really helped, especially with weightloss. I have not heard of the weight gain part... Just weight loss.

It should help you quite a bit. Our body doesn't process gluten very well.
I can't imagine why it would make you gain weight, unless you're replacing it with premade/processed food labeled "gluten free". Most of them aren't any better for you.
