17 month old not talking?
posted 31st Dec
My 17 month old son doesn't talk, he does seem to understand what I'm saying though. He doesn't babble either, occasionally he will say"uh-oh" & he gasps, he used to say "Momma" and "Dada" sometimes, but he hasn't lately.
I'm just wondering if I should be worried yet?

Not in the slightest.

Has he digressed in any other ways? I wouldn't worry just yet, but do keep an eye on things and note his progress and any digressions from the progress he does make.

hum I don't know a lot about this. My 14 month old only says about 4 things and not that often. When he first learns words he will say them but then he stopped.
I would ask your Dr at the next appointment just to see what they say

Don't worry about it, Mama. My 26 mo DD is just now really starting to come around and communicate more easily. Every kid does it in their own pace.

I wouldn't worry, but I would mention it to your Pedi if he's still not saying much at his next well-baby visit.

Thank you He doesn't seem to have any other issues other than his talking, I just wanted to have some other input before he goes for a check-up, I'll bring it up when we go

my nephew didn't really talk other than muma, dada, rara (grandad) and nana untill about 20months+ and then one morning he just spoke. It's like he'd been perfecting his talking in his head or something! lol. Cause his speach was amazing straight away and no one had ever heard him speak before then. now at 2years8months you can have full blown awesome conversations with him. It's amazing. his faverite things to say at the moment are "mmmm, maybe not mummy" and "Perhaps i've had enough of playing this now" lol. Cheeky little man. x

I'm hoping his speech will be fine, my husband's oldest son didn't talk until he was around 2 and he had a little speech problem
