I hate to say this, but Obama could easily cut spending, but he would become the most hated man in all of America. He could cut Social Security, cut Medicare/Medicaid, and military spending and we would easily be out of the red, so to speak. But he would be demonized for it. There have been reasonable plans that would get a lot of support that he wont do.
He rejected and continues to reject his own debt commissions recommendations.
