I have a juicing question.

posted 31st Dec
I made a pretty good juice this morning but I'm having trouble getting Kale to juice. It seems like a handful of kale yields a couple of drops of juice and most of the kale ends up in the pulp container. Is this normal? I had it on the lowest setting.

Watching. I plan on juicing when I get my juicer. :-D

Just watched a video on youtube and kale is supposed to make a good amount of juice.

Hmmmm....Maybe it's my juicer? I will be disappointed. I even tried stuffing the top with kale and applying slight pressure with the machine off so it wouldn't just shoot out into the bin. I'll try again for lunch though.

It depends on the juicer. If you have a low quilty or medium grade one you will get less juice. I have a medium grade one and I hardly get any juice, my parents have a really nice one and get a bit more than me. You will find that you get much less juice from veggies in general. If you really want the lake I suggest blending it and then adding it to your juice.

Maybe the blades are starting to dull? I read that is one thing that may cause the juicer not to make as much juice as normal.

That's a good idea, thank you

I got tons from my celery. Maybe it's because the kale is leafy? And yes, I bought my juicer at Walmart.

Maybe? I'm not really sure, but kale is good for you!

Can I ask what kind of juicer you got? The one I ordered is the Hamilton beach big mouth one and I am hoping it works well. Majority of the almost 500 reviews were positive but the first one I received was broken so I called walmart.com and they sent me a new one out.

I suggest calling the help number on the instruction packet to troubleshoot. They always helped me and were very friendly when I have issues with stuff. When I called them to make sure I wasn't just putting the lock on wrong they were amazing.

Hmm. The reviews on that one are actually good and a few talk about juicing kale with no problem. Idk..   But I would def call the help number and troubleshoot with them if I was having that issue.

Just curious, what do people who juice stuff do with the juice? Just drink it?   I have no knowledge about juicing.

Yep   It's used as a way to get more vitamins in your diet and cleanse your body of toxins.
