Lovenox WTF!?

posted 31st Dec
Last night I went to do my injection and everything was gravy until I got about a quarter of the needle in. All of a sudden it went from pushing it through butter to feeling like I was pushing through a petrified orange peel. What the hell causes that? I know it wasn't a stretchmark or anything, I take special care to avoid them because it hurts and blows out. After I withdrew the needle, some of the medicine came back out too.

Are you making sure you aren't injecting it in the same spot? Rotating around the belly? And you don't keep pinching after the needle is out?

Yes to both. I do the clock face method for my injections.

You can hit muscle with those little needles? Is that normal or do I need to push leas of the needle into my skin?

Then you "shouldn't" be hitting muscle. But possibly are, or you are just hitting scar tissue from previous injections. I would talk to your doc about it, but I am sure he/she will probably say the same thing. I guess you can't use that spot anymore lol.

Yep you can your more likely to hit muscle on your upper thigh or belly then other places. You can also have scar tissue but you would have to be doing daily injections in the same spot for a prolong period of time to develope any it takes a while to form.

I'm definitely asking my perinatologist about it next friday. It really freaked me out. I'm just grateful it didn't blow out.

I rotate closer and further from my belly button around it like a clock face. At this point I have so many spots to choose from I don't think it's scar tissue either, haha. Thanks ladies!

I had the same problem until my hematologist told me to start injecting in the hip and the thigh.

Just means you're not fat.   Definitely talk to your peri about it.

I tried so hard to make a smiley face with the bruises from my fertility injections but too often I'd get one that wouldn't cooperate and bruise up nicely and it'd ruin the whole thing.
