if your SO/DH has

posted 31st Dec
a chronic illness, how do you cope with feeling like a single parent sometimes. I love DH and i know hes sick ( he has Psoriatic arthritis ) and so im the only one working, im also getting ready to start school next week. He does what he can but sometimes its so frustrating and i feel so alone. Like today DD has an appt. for allergy testing and hes not able to go with me, hes not even able to get out of the bed. My marriage vows say in sickness and health and i would never abandon him, but it leaves me feeling drained and alone. Anyone else going through this?

My DH has PKD. there is no cure and nothing that can really help it. we decided about 6 months ago i will work while he stay home with the children to live his life to the fullest because his life could and now the doctors have said will be cut short.

we deal with it and he is a hard working man right now until i start my job as a nurse next week. then we will go from there with our plan.

Can u guys get any services like a home health aid that can do light housework? Maybe that'll help you feel less overwhelmed when u get home from work? I used to do that kind of stuff for people with disabilities when I was younger.

I'm so sorry it's hard mama. *hugs* it's nice to see someone who takes their vows seriously, and I definitely understand how trying this must be for you

My DH has diabetes but that does not count becuase it does not take him out on a daily basis... but he does not have a spleen due to an accident so I understand some what... when the kids are sick he can't be in the house and he leaves for days or he shuts himself up in our room while I take care of the sick kids... also if I get sick from the kids it is like I am single again becuase we don't want to risk him getting sick... so I kind of understand but not sure if it is a bad as what you are going through

they will always say that. get a lawyer and the papers from the doctor and ask to go to court.

they always do this even to elderly people.

I'm so sorry sweetie. I know it's hard. My dad had to jump hoops for disability too. They just like to make it hard on people hoping the ones who aren't serious will just say screw it and give up. Keep trying. They will back pay from the time you applied so that will help hun. Keep your head up. Does he have insurance? When he does get disability if he gets Medicare I think that's what pays for the home Heath aides and stuff.

*sigh* oh sweety thats so tough. I hope u can get disability through ASAP. And I hope you get a nice backpack check mama. Good luck. I know it's hard now but it'll all fall into place once he gets approved. Make sure you take the Medicare so u can get all the benefits of it like home care and stuff.

if he has it legally documented then its on records and a lawyer can do it for free. and the lawyers for getting ssi are pro bono.

I wanna say my dads lawyer took a percentage of the backpay but if he didn't get approved it would be free. But im sure they all have their own rates and deals.

thats how it always goes. but you really dont notice they only take like 10% of back pay but you dont pay up right and if you dont win you dont pay.
