Potty training a 2 1/2 boy

Why is it so hard to potty train my son. When he's at daycare he uses the potty all the time but when he is at home, he refuses. I don't know why. There are days that he'll go and some no. I want to get him off diapers. Any ideas or suggestions ?

I'm in the same boat! DS will only go for his grandparents but when he is at home with DH and I, he tells us AFTER he has already went.

We put Cheerios in the toilet for my step son so it was more of a game

Yeah same here. he tells me after as well but I wish he would tell me before hand. I was thinking of leaving him naked , maybe that would help him go .
I might try the cherrio thing and see how that goes

Naked helps we use a little potty and that way its on hand at all times. He sits on it after naps and each hr or so and I read him his favorite book while he sits. He either sits and goes or fights and does not need to go. He is 14 months

I had to bribe my kid with Hershey kisses :/ It worked but it took a while haha. As he got used to going I stopped giving him chocolate and he still goes on his own. Sometimes he'll still ask for one after he goes though...

Yea my mom used m and ms with my brother she had a hard time getting him out of that habit though

I wish I had some advice lol but Elijah sits there and does nothing and then goes when his pull up is back on. My goal is to have him trained by Jan 26th and I hope I reach it. We need to save money for this new baby i'm baking and not having to buy pull ups will help. I am so afraid to do the naked thing because I feel like he'll pee or poop on my carpet and I would probably go insane. I went to the library and got a few DVDs so hopefully that will help in the journey. I'll keep you updated.

I have been having the same problem and I tacked a blank piece of paper on the bathroom wall and put him in underwear, I made sure I asked him if he had to go at least every 10-20 mins and every time he went he gets to put a sticker on his paper and if he goes number 2 he gets a piece of candy! So far he has done good other than he has a problem with going number two in the toilet. He has done that in his underwear a little more than I like. But I explain to him what he did wrong and that if he goes in the potty he will get candy. He is now wearing underwear all day long except during sleep and even going in the bathroom alone without telling me and using the potty all by himself. The number 2 is still an issue but I am proud of him and what he is accomplished so far! Hope this helps.

Yes me too. I want him off diapers, I refuse to buy 2 packs lol. I mean he goes at daycare but idk why not at home. But hopefully he stops and actually goes to the potty.
Awwe congrats! I can't believe were prego again together lol. I'm excited though.

Thanks hun I found out on the 29th apparently the worst time to have found out because every darn clinic has been closed since Monday. I need to get a blood test so I can know my actual due date. Anyway I told hubby we're not buying anymore pull ups he will be trained before I go back to school for my last semester. Congrats on number 2 too . It is insane that we're pregnant together again haha.

Oh okay , yeah I know. I can't wait for my doc appt. This nausea is killing me , I never had anything with jaiden. I had an u/s but they couldn't see much maybe cause I was early but I'm hoping my next one , I hope to see my Lil one .

Rofl haha at caca...I haven't heard that word in so long. Omg I would have definitely screamed. Elijah is just hard headed he won't listen he's just worried about playing with his cars. Yesterday when I knew he was ready to poop I told him go to the potty and he didn't I was so busy not paying attention to him he just went on playing and pooped in his pull up. I was furious lol, I guess I was partly to blame. I do hope it's a girl but I'll still be thankful for a boy....but I really want my princess this time . This last semester was extremely hard for me and I know my last semester will be so much more difficult. I'll be doing my full time teaching internship and I'll have 1st graders lol. I think being pregnant will be the only thing that will keep me from stressing because I will have something to be extra happy about. Oh sorry about my long essay of a reply lol.

Yeah I see ur fb statuses always teaching & school. U go girl I give it to u. U have a long semester but u got this. Oh don't worry its okay lol.
I'm going to try to do my dental asistant program hopefully I can do it.
