heartbeat dropped?

last time I went to the doctors they said his heartbeat dropped to 40 now I have to go see aon specialist the 18 has this happened to u what does it mean?

40 or 140?

i think 40 my mom was on the phone with the doctor and she said if not mistaken she said 40

I would imagine if your baby's heartbeat was 40 they'd have rushed you to the hospital.

yea there is know telling with my mom she is old lol yea that what i firgured like 40 is low like wouldnt i be in the hospital it might be 140 becuase his heartbeat was just 167 the week before

My son was in the NICU and I flipped through books of premies one day and there were babies born as early as 22 weeks that survived. The reason for me telling you this is because if your babies heartbeat was honestly 40bpm, they would have rushed you to the hospital and monitored you. If there was no change, quickly, you would be getting an emergency c-section. Maybe they are just concerned that your baby's heartbeat dropped from over 160 to 140 in just a matter of weeks. They are probably just wanting to send you to a specialist to insure your baby doesn't have a VSD or ASD.

thanks for the reassurance but yea my boyfriends mom had her youngest at 4 months and she is special needs but alive and well thats all that matters so i havent been to worried just cant wait til the 18th to see what the specialist says

I know it sounds ridiculous, but if you are really worried about it, got to the ER and say you are having tummy pains or something. They will check the baby's heartbeat and admit you if it's too low. Also, give your OB a call in the morning and get the facts straight from them. No need to worry when you can easily find out. Good luck!

If it was 40 they would have done a emergency c section on you , thats ridiculous
