Getting Induced,

posted 30th Dec
So I just found out this week that I will be getting induced in a month and I was just wondering how other ladies induction experiences went? Also how they go about it?

Why are you being induced?
& I was induced at 35 weeks because I needed emergency surgery right after. Pitocin started at 6am and had DD at 9 am. It was a very fast process. But that's not the case for a lot of people who are induced. I was actually very lucky to have a 'good experience'

Edited. I had her at 9:27 am.....but it was technically only about a 3 hour labor because it took about 30 minutes for the Pitocin to kick in.

I am being induced because I have a condition called spd, and i'll be induced at 36-37 weeks.

They made me wait one more hour to allow him to move dOwn a little more and also the nurses had there break within the hour they made me wait. Had LO at 10:30 pm. All in all it went decently. I dont know if I could have done it without the epidural though.

Since it is for medical reasons, I'd push it out as far as you can. Baby needs as much time as possible. So I'd go with 37 weeks instead of 36. Or as far as your doctor will let you go.

I was induced at 41 weeks with Cervidil and Pitocin. I went in at 6am on Thursday. Had to have 2 12 hour doses of Cervidil to thin my cervix. After the second dose I was at a 3 and 60% effaced. They started pitocin at noon on Friday and I had him at 11:48pm on Friday.

I was induced with both pregnancies.
With my first, I went in at 8pm. They inserted Cervadil on my cervix to soften it and help dilate me. At 8am the next morning they started Pitocin with IV. Contractions started immediately... 5-6 hours later I was pushing(About 2 hours of pushing!) and my son was born. No epidural, no problems.
My second I was already dilated and soft so I went in at 8am, started Pitocin, started pushing 7 hours later, baby boy #2 was born at 3:20 pm...7 hours and 20 min. from start of Pitocin. . No problems, no epidural. I did have an episiotomy with both which wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be...VERY sore after though.
So, my induction labors weren't THAT bad. Don't get me wrong, it hurts like HELL but I had no problems. Good luck!!

I was induced at 39 weeks because I developed pre-eclampsia. They gave me some cervidil, monitored me for a couple of hours, and then sent me home. After 12 hours I was supposed to take the cervidil out. If it put me into labour, I was supposed to go in, if it didn't, I was supposed to go in the next morning and be put on oxytocin. I was given the cervidil at about 2pm that day, and took it out before I was supposed to because by 9pm I was having regular contractions. I was in denial for a while and wanted to sleep, but I went to the hospital at around 2am. I was in full-blown labor with contractions every 2 minutes. They put me on oxytocin to try and speed it up. I was in labour for just under 27 hours, I loved every second of it, and I did not find it all that painful. My induction went smoothly and everything was a-ok. I hope you also get lucky and have a good experience!

That is my plan, my doctor is letting me pick a date between the 6th and the 13th.

I'd go with the 13th!
Well, if it's a Friday then maybe not. I hate Friday the 13th.....so maybe the 12th, if the 13th is on a Friday.

It's so reliveing to here all these positive things, my mom said her induction was terrible and my neighbor said the same thing. I am praying that all goes well.

I was induced at 40 weeks with DD and after 18 hours of labor I had my beautiful little girl in my arms. It was much more painful and lasted a hell of a lot longer then my natural birth. I ended up with an epidural after 12 hours.

My sister was induced at 41 weeks with my Niece. Hers went on for 14 hours then my niece went into distress and she ended up getting a c-section.

My cousins induction went the best. Hers was done at 38 weeks.
Her labor was about 11 hours long. She got the epidural pretty quickly so she didn't have any pain.

I was lucky with mine and my doctor did the epidural when the Pitocin was started. So I felt nothing at all! That is also because I was having severe gallbladder pains, so she didn't want me in even more pain then I was already in.
I'm actually kind of scared to know what a 'real' hard core contraction feels like.

ive been induced twice, first at 40weeks even cervadil 12hr and then pit, tho the pit didn't do much until after they broke my water. So id say about a 16hr process. second was at 38weeks because of blood pressure issues 12hr cervadil again and then pit for an hour broke my water after that and had her in the next 45mins. I can't do epidural for medical reasons. Some women say that the pit makes the labor hurt more..I wouldn't be able to tell ya the difference since Ive only had it and not without it.
