umbilical cord
posted 30th Dec
Okay so I had my L.O Dec.24th & his umbilical cord fell off lastnight. Is it okay to start a small tub bath? & how long did it take before your babys cord to fall off & you to give them a tub bath???

As soon as the cord fell off I was doing baths for my girls. I gave them a bath daily, but only used soap every few days.

My daughter's cord stump fell off when she was 2 weeks old. I still waited a couple of days to immerse her in water.

You can do a tub bath just make sure to dry ot well and try not to soak it. Just let it air dry really well afterwards. My kids all fell off within a day or two of leaving the hospital except my third. His took forever to fall off (2 weeks) and he ended up with umphilitis. Idk, I think you should still use alcohol on it but the doctors say no. I did with my first two ans had no issues with it.

Oh wow 2weeks that's long. I woke up last night for a changing & it was laying on the side of him. I was scared for the first seconds then I took a look at his belly button & he was healed very well. Although it still smells a little.

Should I give it a day or two even though he's healed or will a small 3inch bath be fine?

DD's fell off a few days ago but the area hasn't healed completely so I'm going to hold off. I put her in her infant tub (with sling) and just put a couple inches of water in the bottom, so her belly's not submerged.

my 1st daughters cord fell off at 2 weeks and we got her in the tub the night it came off. My with my 2nd daughter it took 3 almost 4 weeks for her cord to fall off and it was kinda infected so we waited 3 days then bathed her
