please say its just a phase!!!

posted 30th Dec
My ds is 4 months old today and for the past two weeks has refused to nap during the day! Seriously he will fall asleep for about ten minutes then BAM he's awake. He gets up around 7 every morning. We are asleep by 11 every night but until last night he doesn't sleep through the night. He usually wakes to nurse at least once. He gets so tired during the day he just whines and whines! He's never been a fussy baby until now, but he's always taken a couple naps during the fay. Is this just a phase? Will he outgrow it? Should I push naps more?

Maybe he's teething...

Have you ever tried putting him to bed earlier?

We go to bed around 8:30-9 every night. Have to get my older two bathed and in bed first, then we go. 11 is the latest, depending on if he will go to sleep or not.

Oh okay! I read it as if you lay him down at 11.

DS's teething really screwed up our sleeping schedules. He'd go to sleep fine but, if he happened to wake up he couldn't fade back to sleep on his own probably because he felt his teeth and was uncomfortable.

If it is his teeth, things will get better eventually.

There are some times where DS goes a couple days like this. He will fall asleep while nursing so I go to put him down but he wakes up instantly and just refuses to stay asleep. Makes me want to rip out my hair some days because he gets so fussy and I know if he would just nap he would be better. Then after a few days of this he goes back to having naps and not being as fussy.

My son doesn't nap more than 30 minutes but maybe 2-3 times a week. He is also up at least 3 times a night, sometimes every 30 minutes. He's almost 9 months.

Some kids just don't nap. Needless to say, I go on 2 hours sleep, a LOT.

My sleep isn't an issue. I hate seeing him so upset because he refuses to sleep. I nurse him and he just eats then goes to crying again. At night he sleeps good, but during the day nothing. Idk why, he's been teething for months! Literally. He started around two months. He'd get a bump ns drool all over then it would go back down for a day or two then come back. His reflux isn't even that bad righttime now so I can't blame that! Its like he's afraid to miss something lol

Mine just HATES sleep. He's a jerk like that lol. He'd be much happier if he napped more, but he refuses.

He is most likely teething, my DD would sleep through the night at 2.5 months and took 2-3 steady naps a day and was in bed by 8:30 pm. When she started teething it disrupted her schedule to the point where she was up 3 or 4 times a night and took 1 nap if we were lucky.   Now if she is cutting cut, she still wakes up at least 2 times a night wimpers and goes back to sleep. Teething sucks.
