Autism and the CT shootings

I have 2 Autistic brothers, one is 5 and the other is 18. Since the shootings in Connecticut, the older of the two has been antagonized by people claiming that he will do the same thing, so he and "his kind" should be institutionalized.

Question: do you think the shootings in CT will cause mass backlash against those with Autism or do you feel things like this will only be isolated incidents.

how many of these types of shootings were from someone without autism. (i worded that wrong but hopefully you get the point lol)

Isolated incidents by people who are ignorant and are uneducated about autism or other special needs.

I'm sorry to hear about people being rude and unkind to your brother.  

My son has PDD and I would flip smurf if someone said that to him. Who the hell would come up with that? That's insane.

There are millions with autism who are well adjusted and do not harm others. This was an isolated incident and I believe he probably had major issues not related to autism. Some people are too quick to jump to conclusions and it makes me a little concerned that people with autism are going to be the next target of bullying.

So the shooter was autistic? That's news to me.

My brother is autistic and he wouldn't hurt a fly. He loves younger children and even volunteered to help watch them at his old school. All the younger kids adored him. He would never think to shoot a place up!

And my brother did lash out when he was younger, but he is docile and keeps to himself now.

that's like saying when a "normal" person does something awful let's get rid of them? makes zero sense

i dont think it will. I certainly hope it wont. I think it will blow over soon.
and, i dont think he was diagnosed with autism as initially reported.
