I don't think you NEED a lawyer... & no way would I let him see my kids if he was threatening to take them.

Don't know a lot about this topic but I've always been told that judges favor the mother as long as she is able to provide and take care of them

How are you not in constant violation of the no contact order?

My dad had a DV against my mom and had been to prison. He still got every other weekend, no holidays. Although, my mom would send us to his dads house for traditional Christmas Eve, Chrisrtmas morning with the entire family and we would celebrate with her Christmas Day or the day after pending on when we went home (night of Christmas Eve or Christmas Day sometime). But that was purely out of her doing what was best for us kids.

I would file for custody, even if you don't have a lawyer, so you have everything in stone. And the judge probably won't be happy with either of you for being in contact around the no contact order. I would seriously get it taken care of soon.

it doesn't automatically look bad, no. especially if he is threatening you... he should be lucky he gets 50/50 with them, most judges wouldn't grant that

I don't think it matters if you're contacting him as well. With his criminal record I don't think the judge will look down on you for not letting him see the kids.

From my understanding, if cops find out he's been contacting me the only one who gets in trouble is him, but you could very well be right.

I have the papers i just need to fill them out. the fines and fee's that go along with this is what really worries me. I don't have the extra money & since him and his brother are frequent jail birds they know good lawyers.
