Steroid nasal spray

posted 30th Dec
I have never really been able to breathe out of my nose and today a doctor gave me a Steroid nasal spray called fluticasone propionate("Flonase"). I heard it can cause nose bleeds though.

Has anyone on here ever used a Steroid Nasal Spray?
Why did you need it and did it help?
Did you experience any side effects?

Yeah I wanted some personal experience because the warnings are usually a lot scarier then a normal persons review lol. I did research but I like personal experiences before taking anything >.<

I *think* that's the kind I use. I've never had a nose bleed, and it helps me TONS. I take allegra every day too, but if I don't use my nasal spray as well it doesn't work. I used to get like 3-4 sinus infections a year, if not more, from allergies that got so bad it turned into a sinus infection. I think I might die without my nasal spray lol

Interesting. See, I don't ever get sinus infections or anything but I can't ever breath out of my nose well and it's always stuffy. I went in today to get my cold looked at because its messing with my sinuses and hearing and so they gave me this.
I haven't tried it yet because medication scares me lol....
Glad to see it's working for you though! Makes me feel better.

How often do you take it?

They gave me psudofed or however you spell it for my cold but I also have not taken that either lol.

I do 2 sprays in each nostril once a day. It might take a couple days, because if I don't use mine and my allergies kick in it takes a day or two for it to start working, but it works wonders for me.

Cool, thank you!
Good to know. I really hope it helps me! I haven't been able to breathe ever. Have you ever found out what you are allergic to?

No. It's something environmental, I'm going to assume it's pollen, but I'm not sure. It usually happens more in the winter though, which is strange. Like, January, March-April-ish. Sometimes in the summer, but mostly when it's cold out.

So the medications normal name is flonase I guess. Is that what you take?

That is strange. Mine is worse during pollen season but I don't think that is my only issue. If I don't eat dairy I notice it starts to get better but not all the way so I think dairy is somewhat an issue for me ha. Though...I can't stay away from it! It's so yummy! D:

Haha I had to look. Mine is the fluticasone propionate. So yeah. I used to use rhinocort and nasacort too, those worked just as well.
