why can't my body just go into labor on it's own?!

Ranting... Sorry...

I'm almost forty weeks pregnant with my third baby, my third large baby... I'm due on Wednesday, but the plan was to induce my labor at thirty nine weeks. Only problem is that there is no room in the hospital schedule until Wednesday night.

I'm really disappointed in my own body. My first baby, my water just broke and I never went into labor and had to be induced. my second baby was sixteen days late and had to be induced. This time,I am trying everything. My body is ready but apparently baby is not. I'm 2-3 cm, 70% effaced, baby is at -1 station and no matter how much walking, bouncing or anything I do, nothing is happening...

I just stopped working on Friday, and honestly, my husband has been out of work for three months. Money is going to be beyond tight while I'm out on maternity leave. I need this baby out in 2012 for my tax return. Seriously, it will add $2000 to my return. Terrible reason to want my baby out sooner, but it is what it is...

I just want to know why it is that my body just doesn't know how to go into labor on its own!!!!

Your body can, it's just not ready yet. I hope your baby comes on the 1st!

i feel ya.....i started having contractions at 40 weeks 1 day....but stopped dilating at 3 cm...stayed there 24 hrs...induced and got to 6 cm....then stopped....i ended with an emergency c section on the 3rd day. sucked i thought to myself..why?!

I'm due two days after you with number three as well. My 1st was 3 days late and my 2nd was 8 days early. My Ob wants to induce on the 3rd due to low fluid levels and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna refuse unless she decides my levels are so low that baby is in danger. So now I feel pressure to deliver before I see her on the 3rd. I don't care when he comes, I just want him to come on his own terms.
