IDK,,,,

SOs friend passed last year, he committed suicide. Today would have been his birthday so we went to visit his grave. SO decided to start asking questions. Like why do christian people say he is damned to hell? What should he believe? IDK what to tell him because I am of no faith. I had comforting words for him but untrue to myself which felt really wrong. Was lying in this situation the right thing to do? He knows my beliefs, but I had to make him stop crying it hurt me to watch him hurt. I told him all the contradictions the bible has and how no one really knows, and that since he was so good he had to have made it to forever at least his soul. Not my true belief but what I felt best. Why do I feel so bad for saying it?

Honestly, you probably feel bad because you weren't sure what to say. I always feel bad in those moments. Like when my kids ask Why their dad isn't around or why they have to go see him when they do...so yea.

Not all Christians believe those who commit suicide go to hell. Personally, I don't see how anyone can believe that. Really, God is going to send a person who was in so much pain that they took their own life to burn for eternity? Hmm, sounds like a loving god, doesn't it?

I think your right. I couldnt think of anything I hugged him and he had a drink and he is now passed out, but I just feel so bad

I would hope not.. and no any hate I believe would go against any god if their were one.

I just tell the kids their dad is really sick (addict) and that is why he isn't around. I don't have the heart to tell them that it is because he is a selfish smurf that doesn't care if he is clean or not because he doesn't give a smurf if they were here or not.
