Except they aren't. You can't just up and decide that the whole way that we organize our society is going to change, it doesn't work like that. Not to mention, that's still how we handle last names in our country.

No one is saying you can't use a boy name on a girl, but it will forever be a boys name on a girl.

I'm from Tennessee. That's not a "southern" thing.

You're just extremely butthurt. Just because you put it on a girl, doesn't make it a girl name.
This is coming from someone with a boy name and a daughter with a boy's name, who's NOT butthurt about it

No one is knocking the name, just telling you to quit being a hypocrite.
I actually like the name Presley on a girl, but I like boy names on girls.

I came across Alessia just recently and fell in love with it! I've seen a few different pronunciations though...how do you pronounce it?

p.s. they are all gorgeous names...

Because I'm finding absolutely no legitimate sites with it on them
I would assume it was a made up name they used for the movie.

That's what I thought. Kind of sucks because I do think it's somewhat cute.

Love it! That's how I would think it should be pronounced, but I've seen like uh-LAY-see-uh and uh-LEE-see-uh too.

It's not, but if you want to continue to pretend this is the 1800's go fr it. My nephew goes to high school with a girl named Wilhelmena. Who gets picked on and shoved around daily for having an "old woman" name. They ask where her depends are. No, my nephew isn't one of the petty brrats picking on her, my point is times are changing, get used to it. And for god's sake don't name your kids Wilhelmena.

She gets her name said like Alicia pretty often and she is very quick to correct people.

I think that is one thing they are going to hate about their names when they're older. Our last name is always butchered as well because it is a VERY French surname. I think it's about the equivalent of being a "Smith" here.   But between their first and last names, they are forever going to spell it for people. Luckily, we have them normal middle names so if they choose to go by those professionally, no one will have difficulties pronouncing them.
