Breastfeeding questions

posted 29th Dec
My son is 4 days old. In the hospital he did real good about wanting to eat. He had 10 poopy diapers in 2 days. Now that we are home, he just wants to sleep and when I get him on the breast he stays on like 10-15 mins and falls asleep. I've undressed him, skin to skin and he gets pissed and will latch then falls right back to sleep. He is getting about 10-12 feelings but they don't last long. My milk is in as of today. He has had 3 soiled diapers and 2 pee diapers as of today. So he hasn't met the 4 solid and 4 wet that they suggest he have but the day isn't over. Does this sound normal breastfeeding issues? We see his pedi on Monday.

Soundsboike he's doing good to me momma. My DS would only eat for 5-10 mins max at each nursing session, then wanted to nurse every half hour or so.lol

Keep track of his diapers..but expect changes, you will see a pattern but it may change while he is changing.

babies are very tired after birth - its a big day! lol.
You are doing great. Keep at it. You can try tickling his feet to keep him up, but if he's eating and then sleeping, its okay IMO.

Yes. He doesn't seem to have jaundice.

See he was eating for 25-30 mins in the hospital but that was colostrum he was getting. The second night he cluster fed all night long. Literally all night.

Ok, thank you. I really wanna strictly bf and I'm stressing myself out wondering if he is doing ok. He was small, 6.10 at birth and he seemed so hungry the first 2 days and it seems he tapered off some. Just making sure its normal.

I think this is the mistake most moms make, being worried.

Trust your body. And DONT STRESS! He will pick up on your stress and it can cause issues.
Just feed him when hes hungry and think positive thoughts.

I breastfed my son through chemo while being told all along I could never do it. NEVER listen to negatives. Trust yourself, trust your body, it will make you sucessful for sure!

Wow that's great! I will take your advice and just trust myself and listen to his cues.

The first few days (weeks for me) are nerve wracking. But as long as he is making a good amount of dirty diapers, just keep doing what you're doing!

Congrats!!!

He sounds like he's doing good to me! Just keep an eye on his output. But it sounds pretty normal, to me! Just keep doing what your doing. Run his head, ears or feet when he falls asleep, and try not to stress.
