There shouldn't be an odor. Lochia should smell "earthy", but not foul. You may have an infection brewing.

I was told to call my ob if there was ever an odor. I'd give em a call so you can make sure you don't have an infection.

I bled horribly for 5 weeks, and I never ever had an odor. I would be calling your doctor to make sure everything is ok.

Ehhh yikes like what kind of infection? This is tmi but sometimes pre pregnancy down there would smell this way if I didn't wash In a day or two and it smells similar and its not normal for the blood to smell?? Because I smelt the pad and it seems to be the blood to? How does earthy smell?

I bled heavily for 6 weeks. And for some reason I DID have a death odor. My OB ran tests and there wasn't an infection, she just said that for some reason some people have an odor. Usually a PH imbalance. But still, just because my OB says one thing I would still have your OB check for infection to rule it out. Hopefully this time my post partum bleeding doesn't smell so foul

If you tore or had stitches, the itchiness could also be your body healing.

It's just weird that its not supposed to smell with all the nasty coming out lol. Glad to know someone else has had a similar problem.

I think it smells because I haven't used anything to clean other than the peri bottle and water. Like I want to get the inside and scrub but I can't because my stiches so I'm a bit lost on what to do. I wish there was a soap that I could mix with water in the peri bottle and use to see if that helps!?

I called my OB when I was like 3 weeks PP because it seriously smelled like rotten meat.
He checked.. no infections, he said some people just have a bad odor with PP bleeding.

No your vagina is self cleansing. Also with the stitches and a baby just coming out, your not supposed to "scrub". You should still be seen by your OB ASAP to make sure it's not an infection. Just because my vaginal was apparently disgusting post partum and it wasn't an infection doesn't mean that's what's going on with you.
You can try to take sitz baths. That may also help you feel cleaner. I used to bathe 3 times a day and still feel gross lol but just as everyone else said, you should still be seen by OB

no... i smelled down there when i was bleeding pp, im sure it's normal.. unless you have some funky discharge or something, i'd say it's normal, your body is cleaning itself right now. but i wouldn't try to "get up there & scrub", I just dabbed with a loofa when i had stitches still.
