Not sure exactly, but my son is nearly 8 months and has been pulling himself up onto surfaces to stand since 4 months, sitting up unassisted since 5 months, full-on crawling (never scooted) since 6 and a half months, and trying to walk (albeit on his tippy-toes) since 7 months. The only words/sounds he's repeated has been "hey" and "ma"; he doesn't seem interested in "da" noises.
I dunno what's normal or what should be happening, but I figure all babies develop at different rates, so I figure he's probably fine.
