I would LOVE a doppler, but my husband thinks it will just add stress, he thinks if I have a hard time finding the HB I'll freak out (which I soooo totally would). But I agree, I think it would make me feel so much better, if I started to worry I could just hear the heart beat and be reassured. However, as soon as I don't hear the heart beat I would over react and probably break down the hospital doors. So I guess it's a catch 22

yeah def catch 22.. i got mine when i was 6 weeks along. i knew i wouldnt be able to find it for a wihle.. i thought i did a few days ago, but it turns out we have major arteries running along side our stomachs and i was picking up my own.. after searching for 20 minutes i found mine and a faint one under it so i wiggled the wand and twisted it a little and BAM 181 HB. i was like hell yes! finally! i have been searching for a hb since 8 weeks =/ so now that i know where bub is laying i just go right to that spot.

I'm going to have to talk to my husband again, but I remember my second Dr.'s appointment, she had a hard time finding it and she knows how jumpy I am with that so she told me, "it might take a minute, so don't worry!" lol- I do feel if I couldn't find it just one time, I would probably just way over react and think the worst, and be a mess until I got to see my Dr. again. But if I was like a normal person with patience,a doppler would be a great idea! lol

That's true, it wouldn't hurt to get one, and if I had a concern I could just call the Dr. That's what they are there for, right? Lol- Where did you get yours from? Just order online or does your town have a store they sell them at?

I ordered off ebay, but you can get it off amazon as well

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sonoline-B-Fetal-heart-doppler-Backlight-LCD-3mhz-gel-FDA-US-Seller-1y-warrnty-/230867784786?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c0cad452

mine is pink, but they're both the same.. just get one thats 3mhz.. but yeah, that's what they look like....

if you get one just put your fingers up to your neck & check to see if the pulse matches whats up the doppler. if that's the case then its yours..same if its under 100 it's yours.. if its really fast around 140+ then it's the baby. it'll also sound like a train.

Ah, I'm excited! I just had a Dr appointment yesterday and mentioned to her that I was considering getting a doppler, lol - Um, I don't think she recommends it. I asked her about me not showing and she said i'm still pretty early? (20 weeks) But she's the Dr, I guess and the baby is still doing great so I supposed I'll just take a chill pill and just be happy she's doing good.

It does bug me though that no matter how far along I get, they still say, "oh, it's too early for this...or that." I'm like Uh...so when I'm 39 weeks is it still going to be too early to see if my baby has a head, or arms, or legs?! I mean, they can't use that excuse forever right!?

I dont know about the doppler. I would've loved to have one if I could afford it lol. As for not showing, 20 weeks is early lol. Some women just show earlier than others. I was in that awkward "look like you could be pregnant, or you just need to lay off the cake" stage for the longest, and it seems over night I got huge! I went from losing weight to gaining 17lbs in one month   Now I am 28 weeks, and people keep telling me things like "It must be twins", and "your going to pop any day now"   It gets old pretty fast lol. Dont worry mama, you'll get there! Your right though, they cant keep telling you "Your still early" forever lol.

Don't get me wrong, I am super happy I'm not looking like a blob yet, I just thought it was so strange how some people look HUGE at 3 months and then some people you can't ever ever tell they are pregnant? I thought for sure with my second one I'd be a whale by now.

Alot of it is the way you carry, and your size before pregnancy. My Uncles wife is only one week behind me, and you cant tell she is pregnant at all. She carrys low and in her back, and she is tiny still. I carry low but in the front, and I am huge already. I was the same way as you though, I couldnt wait to start showing. Now anytime I lay down, I feel like a turtle stuck on its back   It seems like nothing comes free with pregnancy. You first find out your pregnant, your excited and happy, then your boobs hurt, and you start throwing up... 2nd trimester you get to have your gender ultra sound, start feeling the baby kick, and start showing, but you get back and nerve pains, acid reflux/heart burn, and possibly BH contractions start. 3rd trimester... Enough said... LOL. And somehow after we are all done and brought our little love's into the world, we forget all the bad stuff, and trick ourselves into beliving we actually miss being pregnant. Oh well, it is all 100% worth it in the end

Haha! I agree! I don't ever remember "liking" being pregnant. But I didn't mind it with my son. I was only 16 so you know, at that age everything is rainbows and butterflies. And there is no such thing as cellulite or belly fat lol. NOW however....I don't know what skinny is anymore! - I don't necessarily want to look pregnant, but I feel like I'm gaining weight EVERYWHERE *except* my belly. My stomach is flat as can be, but my thighs, face, arms, fingers...everything looks chunkier. (UGH). My pants are getting tighter though so the weight must be piling on there too, somewhere anyway lol.

Ugh I know what you mean! My tummy is big, but so is everything else. Especially my arms and face   The only things that havent gotten bigger are my butt, hips, and thys. Which you would think is a good thing, except now I just look extremely misproportioned lol.

Hahaha! I know, what you mean! I'm VERY short so when you gain 1lb it looks like you gained 100. I am just short and stubby so I don't ever get "skinny" but I USED to look "athletic, or fit" I guess. Now I just feel icky and chubby, but If I at least LOOKED pregnant, people would be like, "Ohhh, that's why she looks disgusting" lol. Instead, everyone just thinks I've let go of myself and I'm just getting fat everywhere! I just need to make shirts for the remaining months, "I'm 5 Months pregnant!" and just change the month until I have her! People are probably annoyed with me because I'll say, "WELL I'M PREGNANT!" for everything, (hungry, tired, sad, grouchy) lol. Just so everyone knows mmkay!?!?
