I just read an article about the parents of a 6 year old who survived the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting who hired a lawyer and are suing the state of CT. for $100 million dollars.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you sue if your child survived, or would you just be thankful that she/he is still alive?

i posted about this the other day and how ridiculous it is. that child wasnt the only one traumatized. they should be happy their child still is alive honestly

honestly, they should count their blessings. I dont understand why they feel the need to sue when 20 parents would give anything to have their children back.

I would definately not sue. It was no ones fault but the shooters, and could have happend anywhere, to anyone. I think they are taking advantage of this situation, and its wrong.

is it about the money or the principle of the matter?

Apparently, the lawyer stated that the shooting was completely preventable because someone like the shooter should have been known to the police.

*If* anyone were to sue (which i think would be ridiculous, regardless) it should be the parents who lost their children, not the parents who are still able to have their children with them.

I would not sue and i think its terrible that anyone would use this tragedy to try to get rich. Disgusting.

Personally, I would be so happy that my child is alive, as far as the trauma and on going issues she may have, I am sure that the state would or should offer on going councelling etc available for all the children and there parents.
It was an awfull thing to happen, but no amount of money will heal those children, only time, love and support.

That sounds greedy & money hungry. I know 20 parents that wish thus pass Christmas they kids were here instead of going to visit their grave sites.

Yeah well apparently the police should know every single bad guy/girl in the world, and know exactly what they are capable of. Also they should be mindreaders, so they know what they are all plotting   Sounds like something a lawyer would say lol. Even if the cops knew who he was, and thought he was dangerous, there was no way to predict what he was going to do. You cant arrest someone just because you think they may be dangerous.

Probably just the parents trying to get money by exploiting their child. How is it the fault of the state?! Oh please

I also think that if the government would take the time to look into the failing health care system maybe people with mental health problems would be seen to more rapidly, and something could be done for them sooner rather than when its to late, incidents like this tragedy could be avoided.

We have mental health clinics in our state popping up on nearly every corner, it is a bigger issue than drug use so why does it getting pushed aside so often?
