I just found a second article about it.

The child wasn't in any of the classrooms where anyone was actually killed, she was in another classroom and heard the shots over the P.A. system and lost a couple of her friends.

I don't know why I am not surprised. But I think it is absolutely disgusting to use this tragedy as a money pit. They should be ashamed.

I would be far too thankful to still have my child and concerned over her mental stability after such a trauma to worry about going through a circus of a lawsuit for money.

I could perhaps understand one of the parents of a killed or injured child suing the school for having so little security but... I'd probably still frown on that, too. It was a tragedy all around. A lawsuit just further grinds it in.

These parents are pieces of smurf and are just as low as the woman who exploited the families by starting a memorial fund and keeping the money.
