I feel bad for your mother. Seems she has no support system.

And idk about you, but I've had headaches so bad I've had to go to the ER. No fun.

Most doctors are skeptical when people come in claiming on body pains they can't find. It generally takes a lot of swaying to get them to diagnose you with it. So chances are she does actually have it, or is just lying to you.

She does have support, the thing is she is in denial. She wont accept our support. We try to help her get better and she just ignores and yells at us, we are wrong and she is "fine" I've been trying to help her for years.

Before I can actually help her, she needs to help herself. She needs to realize that there is a problem and accept the help.

I see.

Yeah, that makes it hard. My MIL had Fibro and was like a vegetable too. Unfortunately the clowns that lived with her didn't support her and just thought she was a pill-head. She ended up passing because of something that's normally not dangerous because they didn't pay attention to her health.

That's awful   I try so hard to support my mom but she makes it soooo difficult. I want her to get better but like I said, she needs to want to be better in order for me to help otherwise its just a big circle of frustration because she doesn't believe anything is wrong, but obviously there's something wrong when she's sleeping 15-18 hours a day in odd increments. I'm seriously afraid that one day she's not going to wake up when my brother or sister try to wake her for something.. They don't need that

My mom turned into a zombie becuase of the wrong pain managment. the doctor overprezcribed her meds. she did not even relize when she was in a for of remission at one point. there are some issue that go with the condition for sure. one is deffinitly over the top prescriptions of narcotics but it does not mean it is not real. the pain is real, and when you deal with that much you pain you take what makes it go away. then unfortunatley you are most likely now hoooked or needing to take the meds to maintatin your idea of normal.

I seriously worried about this as well. it took me talking to her doctor about her behind her back. he was over prescribing her and when the only see her 15 minutes once a month it is hard for them to know how bad they are. if she is a zombie and you are worried you should talk to her doc. I did and i talked with her, the started slowly dropping her meds and she went from oxy 80's 3x a day to oxy 10's 3x a day. she is alert. i threatend her with her only grandson. i was not going to leave her alone with him in that condition. she was high as hell. but i see why she wanted to be for sure. dont get me wrong. but like i said sometimes the pain can come and go with waves of remission and she has been on about a good one year run of really low fibro days. she would have had no clue if she had stayed on all that other crap. talk to her and her doc about her behavior. but honestly sometimes a zombie is needed if the pain is that bad. but you never know until you talk with her doc and they try reducing her meds a bit.

I will try that definitely, even if she gets mad at me for it.. She's got a 12 and 15 year old who need her to be there for them and they deserve a mom who is not a zombie. Hell my son deserves a grandma who doesn't fall asleep every time she rocks him. She got mad because I wont let her watch him, but what's the point of letting her watch him if I have to watch her while she's doing it?? She's seriously overmedicated, she takes 6 methodone a day, and idk how much zanax she takes but I know that's not a good combination. plus she's on a bunch of other meds for nausea and breakthrough pain and depression.. It's just ridiculous. I hope talking to her doc helps and I hope she doesn't get too pissed off about it..

Make up diseases? No. Over diagnose? Absolutely.

Just because you (general) can't see my diseases doesn't make them made up. They are very real illnesses. I don't have Fibromyalgia but I have illnesses that can't be seen. If people thought I was making them up or my doctors were it would hurt me
