Quoting Raindancer:" Dude according to her she has scoliosis as well yet she has been to multiple doctors and they have done ... [snip!] ... out. Smurf if she is in too much pain to do chores but not too much to go party with her friends there is something up there."

The thing is, it maybe overly diagnosed, but for you to make the blanket statement that it's "made up" is absurd.

Whether you know people who have it or who are diagnosed with it, and may not have it, are two different things. You can't just assume they don't have it because YOU don't see it.

My best friend has MS and she's fine most days. But other days she's paralyzed in her legs. Like she will just DROP randomly and can't walk.

Yes, maybe they DON'T have it. But that's the problem with diseases like that, there is no ONE definitive test for most of them. It's a combination of a variety of factors.

Like said. I know a lot of people with it and it is pains that you get from every day smurf they are calling fibro. Maybe it is real where you are but here all the people that have been diagnosed with it are overweight (except my sister but she is right on that path to becoming overweight) and they tend not to do anything and when they do they are shocked that they are sore. It is crap.

Is it hard to believe that a condition that affects your muscles and soft tissue will make everyday activities painfull? I guess you dont understand what it does to the body. you should read up on it. it may help you to understand that it is real and does exist..

I'm not even close to overweight and I have it.
It just sounds like everyone you know that SAYS they have it are bullsmurffing and finding excuses for them to be even more fat and lazy.

This!
Doctors overdiagnose conditions but it doesn't make the condition invalid.

I know that women who have fibromyalgia suffer and I know they are constantly battling skepticism about their disease. If someone wants to claim to have a horrible disease and live that way, I'm not going to question it.

On the other hand, if I had been diagnosed as a child my life would have been WAY different (in a good way). I think there is still just so much ignorance about it.

That's because it's idiopathic. There is no explanation only triggers and risk factors.

It's not something you just get. But pain after sleep and exercise are symptoms.

I get sore for a few days after just shopping for a few hours. It's not fun. I don't have a diagnosis yet, but my pain is certainly real.

I get the same way but I get over it and chalk it up to normal muscular pain because that is exactly what it is. If you don't exercise much and only go shopping for a few hours every so often you are going to be sore. Just like if you don't exercise and suddenly just pick it up and go. I don't have energy because I don't eat the correct foods and I don't work out much like majority of people I know with it. I also don't have energy or good memory because of lack of sleep and I don't sleep well because of my constant nightmares. All of they symptoms that are on the fibro list can come from just insomnia. Like my mother gets a good nights sleep and she feels amazing but if she sleeps like smurf she feels like smurf. If she would stop sleeping the way she does there really wouldn't be that much of an issue. If she would have continued going to therapy rather than saying it is to embarrassing to be fat and in a pool in front of people she would be better by now.
Just everything is smurfing bullsmurf.

This. My mom is pretty much the same as OP's mom. Lays in bed all damn day, is gaining weight like CRAZY, and she's diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Now, idk if she's really got it or if she's just a hypochondriac. Every little thing she has wrong with her she rushes to the ER. She will go to the ER for a headache. I hate that she's on so many goddamned pills.. I wish she would realize that she feels like crap because she lays in bed all day and I wish she would get better. She's not much of a mom really.. She's practically a potato that magically comes to life once or twice a day and when she is awake she is on so many medications that she may as well just go back to bed because she acts mental and nobody wants to be around that.
