whats up with these braxton hicks?!

posted 29th Dec
the past two days, this is going on day 3 i've been having horrible contractions ALL day...they'll get stronger and they'll happen more often but the moment i lay down to take a nap they're gone...

but the second i wake up, i pee, i eat, i do anything they start back up...

can you have BH and still be considered in active labor?
i was 3cm dilated 50% effaced two weeks ago, and was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced 6 days before that.

i'm getting induced on wednesday but really don't want to so i'm hoping i go naturally before wednesday..

Call your OB and talk to him/her about it. I had BH for 3 months with my son, before being induced 2 weeks before my due date due to dilation and extreme uncomfort. Walking will help progress labor, so keep an eye out - when your mucous plug comes out (looks like a glob of slime with sometimes pinkish streaks) and your water breaks, there's the definite signs. Also if your contractions stay steady 5 minutes apart for an hour or longer. My mom said it's how she knew she was ready with me and my one brother (the last one was induced 3 weeks pre-term), and she kept walking until it happened with my brother - we're both healthy, 20+ years later (almost 30 for me LOL). Good luck, and remember - your doc is there for you no matter what, so they may be able to answer your questions...and if nothing else, he'll direct you to the hospital so you can be monitored

my mucus plug came out two days ago (when these strange contractions began)..so if i feel like i need to call and ask, should i call and talk to the hospital because my doctor just came back from vacation today, not too sure how i'd reach him.

Most doctor offices have message centers that handle calls while they're away - try calling them first, and if for some reason you don't get a timely answer, go to the hospital and tell them that you think you're in labor. If nothing else, they will be able to confirm or deny, and you'll have your answers. Best of luck, to me it sounds like you may be in labor. Time your contractions for an hour, just to see how close they are, that way you have an idea when you're asked either way later. I know that no matter what time of the day it is, I can call my office, and they will call the on-call OB, so I always get an answer. I'm sure your doc has the same setup. Best wishes!
