Keds - the shoes

posted 29th Dec
Does anyone remember when Keds were the cheap shoes?

I remember being the little stuck up 9 year old snot who made fun of kids for wearing Keds.... (I know I was a jerk, I have been very humbled now that I've grown up.)

But now Keds are popular I guess?? I was looking for some plain grey canvas shoes and Keds cost $50!

What just happened? lol

I got a pair of Keds knockoffs at Target for $9!

They are just plain canvas shoes, no logos or brand son them at all.

I like things without brands on them...
I think it makes things look cheaper WITH huge brand name logos on them! You are basically paying to advertise for the company!

You were THAT kid.

My mom bought me the imitation keds.... yes, even worse. Kids were so mean and rotten.

Those stupid shoes both helped build a tough skin and resolve and a lot of pain and rejection.

I got mad fun of for keds as well so I find it funny that they are the "cool" shoe now. I also wore a lot of my mom's clothes from the 70's and 80's because I liked them and got made fun of for that as well. Now everything I wore when ibwas younger and got made fun of for is trendy. Silly.

I know   I was a spoiled snot, my dad made good money and spoiled me... he died when I was 13 and that gravy train stopped!
Like I said, growing up humbled me quite a bit!

I live for a good price now! and hate name brands plastered on things.

Yeah I wanted some grey cons but they were $50+ so I figured I'd look for Keds, I remember them being so cheap... and they were the same price now!!!

I find it so funny that they are the popular thing now.

That was the time period we made fun of kids for wearing them....

Where did you grow up?
Maybe it was just an East Coast Yuppie thing, that they were the cheap shoe. I lived in a Connecticut beach town.

I think everyone has their regret like that.
I made fun of my cousin who stuttered badly when we were kids. I cringe when I think about it now. I saw her for the first time in 15 years this christmas eve, she is a hot mess stripper now and I wonder if children like me helped build that mess.

As far as brands go, I'm like that too, I am not a walking billboard. I have no brand envy, but do have brand repulsion, lol.

Would Coach purses be apart of that? I swear every person I see anymore has one if not multiple ones.
