When to pack?

When should you have your hospital bag ready?

I am 35 weeks and already dilated at 2 cm, which I know I can stay at for a long time. But when should I start packing my bag to make sure I have what I need and want at the hospital? I feel the urge to pack it now and to wash all of my baby's clothes and blankets.

Pack what you don't need right now, have clothes and such always clean and ready, keep basic toiletries that you'll need/want in a Baggie so you can just grab and go.

You can pack stuff you won't miss for a few weeks like the baby's clothes, some of your clothes and other necessities. I got travel toothpaste and a new toothbrush packed weeks in advance. I think I was mostly packed by 34 weeks except stuff I used on a daily basis, that was packed the day of.

I have the same due date as you.  

My car seat is also installed, I had a certified car seat rep help me install it after taking a car seat safety class. I have most of my things packed, was nervous for some reason and just started packing things last night. I have her outfits picked out, one for her picture and one for bringing her home plus an extra sleeper and onesies just encase. I still need to wash them before I pack them, I hear that you should wash everything before using it, even though it is all brand new. I have her baby book tucked away, her coat, her shoes, new nightgown, underwear, pads, shampoo, body wash, alufa, new tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, and camera with memory card. Once I wash her things and add some of my clothes I should be set.

I went on an out of town trip back in October and had bought new tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo, body wash, and other items. I had just left them in my bag because I knew I would need them when I went to the hospital anyway.

Haha great minds think alike, that's what I basically did because I had leftover stuff from a vacation before I had my DD that I didn't open or was barely used at all. The toothbrush I was planning on changing mine after I had my DD anyhow so it just flowed with how everything fell.  

I'm almost 38 weeks and haven't packed my bags at all. I have a feeling he is going to come late so I don't feel the need to have it together, yet. I kinda just threw his bag together bout a month ago. I'll probably go back thru it soon to see what all I put in there.

haha I must be super anal because I am due March 8th and my bags are ready along with car seat! LOL A girl I work with went a month early, and just kept stressing to me "be prepared"...so, I am prepared!
