Does walking really help?

posted 29th Dec
I am 39 weeks now and have not progressed,
I do not want to be induced AT ALL, I feel it's better for the body to jump start itself rather then fake hormones..

So, I was wondering if walking helped any ladies up here on getting them progressing, maybe more dilation? Anything?

I don't know if it's just coincidence but my water broke after walking Walmart for an hour.

Walking does help, you might also want to try bouncing on a ball. And if you don't want to be induced most places won't unless you go 2 weeks overdue, so don't worry too much about that.

Can't hurt to try. Try sitting and bouncing on a yoga ball, and sex.

Walking is always good for you, pregnant or not.

When I was 39 weeks, DH and I went for a long walk. We were gone for about an hour.

I wasn't trying to kick start labor or anything like that, I was just trying to keep myself from going over due. (I was really hoping I could have my son on my dad's birthday).

Anyways. I went into labor the following day. I am not sure if my walking had anything to do with it, or if my body just decided it was time.

Walking is always a good thing. I'm not sure if it actually helped or not, but at 36 weeks I was 70% 2 cm. 37 weeks I was 80% still 2 cm & 38 weeks I was 90% effaced & 3 almost 4 cm. Could have been a coincidence BUT I walked a ton in those last few weeks & everytime I went to the doctor I progressed more & more.

It can help. Sex can help, too. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but I had a LOT of sex in the last month and DD was born a week early

Well maybe this will brighten you up about the worry of being induced...

I started having contractions a couple days after my 40 week check which was on a Wednesday) where I wasn't dilated at all. My induction was scheduled for that Sunday evening and when I went in to the hospital for it and they checked I was 4cm and did not have to be induced anymore. So DD waited til the very very VERY last minute to start her arrival
