cough relief for 9 month old

posted 29th Dec
So when we went to a Christmas party a few nights ago there were a few people that were sick. Like sounded like they were dying when they coughed sick. I didn't know people were THAT sick, but it was family I only get to see once a year so I just tried to limit DDs contact with them. This morning though after her bath she started coughing really bad and it sounded really wet like she needed to cough stuff up (scared the crap out of her to). She's not coughing as bad right now but every so often she is. Is there anything I can do to help her cough and hopefully prevent it from getting to the point where the other people were at (both ended up in urgent care the other day and left with antibiotics and inhalers). DD is 9 months and about 16 lbs. Oh, and I've tried the steam shower when she had a cold before but it doesn't really help her.

My DD is six months and just had the same thing. If her nose is running at all use the nose sucker thing and get a cool air vaporizer for her room. Also they make baby Vicks vapo rub which seemed to help. Good luck!

Steam is the only thing you can really do. You will just have to wait it out

Theres not much you can do, maybe some baby vics on her chest and feet. But its got to loosen up in the chest so she'll probably be coughing for a week or two. You could always go in and get antibiotics but usually it's a virus and has to run it's course.

So far it's just the cough. I'm just worried about it getting worse :/ She slept like all day yesterday so I had a feeling something was up but today she's a huge ball of energy so hopefully that's a good sign lol

Sleeping is a good thing, gives her body the energy to fight it off. DD was sick for a week and then got better and then worse so I just buckled down and spent like 36 hours with her in our bedroom with the cool air vaporizer and the snot sucker and the vapo rub and tons of naps and she really seemed to benefit! Now she's fine! But if you check my past posts, when she was sick I was terrified. It really sucks seeing your baby like that
