I like how u stuck up for him  its a good sign, give him a try he sounds like he has a good head, addicts can be good people... We just messed up for a while along the way...

My dad was addicted to pain medications for 2 years when I was a kid. He got started because a car hit him and messed his back up, but kept the pill habit long after his back healed. Very nearly broke my family apart. He was a totally different person.

I'm not sure what the turning point was, but there must have been one because he did a total 180 in about a month. Quit pain pills, changed jobs (the stress of his old job, I'm convinced, pushed the drug habit a lot), started being involved in the family again. He's never taken another thing since and in fact is quite outspoken against the routine prescription of any kind of medications for thingst hat have alternative treatments.

I would hate for anyone to judge him based on an addiction he once had.
