18 months old and still...

posted 29th Dec
Wait for it..

NOT SLEEPING ALL NIGHT.

WHY. JESUS.

Okay, that was a bit dramatic. But really.   She's on a good schedule, same smurf happens every day, one nap, etc, and she still wakes up screaming 6 or MORE times a night.

I really could use a full nights sleep, but I just feel bad for DD. No wonder she's such a grump all the time.   I know she would be so much happier if she would just sleep all night.

I'm going to bring it up with her ped at her 18m check up. I've tried everything to get her to sleep all night. Is there any medicine safe for toddlers to help them sleep? I want her to get better sleep so she can be energetic and happy during the day.

is it the same bedtime routine?
do you get her right away when she crys or wait a few mins to see if she calms down?
My son is 18 months and he has recently found out that if he screams we will run in there and get him (this is new to us as he has always slept though the night) so we think something is wrong and swoop him up. It's been a week and now it's a habit of his. So we started to see if in 10-20mins if his cries stop and they do so now hes sleeping back to normal for the most part. but I believe in CIO

What's her diet like? Does she have bad gas at night? Dd (19 months) is the same.. Seems to get better when I'm sure she is hydrated and not gassy before bed. Now not wakes up once or twice. Also I've started cutting her nap short, it helps TONS.

Yes, actually. She drinks water during the night from a sippy.   I haven't tried to stop that yet, but I'm going to tomorrow night. I think it will help tremendously.

We co-sleep so it makes it a lot harder. Sometimes I think it's night terrors but I can't ever really tell, since she's been doing it so long. I've been having her CIO at bedtime in her playpen (been trying to stop co-sleeping, our bed is too small) and she'll go to sleep after about 10-15 minutes. But during the middle of the night I never know what to do.

She actually is a horrible eater. So picky she'll hardly eat anything but crackers and fries.   But I don't know if she's gassy. I know that she's constipated a lot, maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah definitely, when my daughter is constipated she's worse. Try some prune juice when she hasn't pooped in a couple of days.. Dd is picky too but I try and make sure to sneak puréed vegis into marinara sauce with whole grain pasta which she eats pretty well a few times a week. If she's eating lots of crackers/fries she my be taking all that water t night because she's thirsty from the high salt content.

Hopefully they start sleeping through the night ASAP! It's really getting to be too much.
