MIRENA IUD ?

Everyone who has it please post your thoughts.
I currently have the ParaGard IUD, [the copper, non-hormone]
I'm thinking about switching to Mirena for many reasons.
Are you satisfied? Pros & Cons?

I hated it. It was no bueno. The covering on it that is supposed to regulate how much of the hormone is released into my body for some reason had a hole in it, so I was messed up the entire time I had it. The only real pros I had with it were no periods after about 6 weeks, and I didn't have to remember to take a pill every day. I was moody, I gained weight, suffered from depression and anxiety...just not good.

I didn't like it... it didn't work very well  

When I had my 3rd child, it came out, right after the baby...  

My husband wants to write a strong worded letter to mirena asking to either pay his tuition, or grocery bill... lol

Smurf this smurf. It's made me break out, fat & moody. :| Oh, and I always have headaches. All since I had it put in September 2011.

My friend has all the same and her hair has been falling out. She's had it since April 2012.

OP- why are you thinking of switching? Cause I was thinking of switching to paraguard.... Pros & cons of it?

I didn't like mine. I had 2 periods a month every month for the first 6 months. nd it caused a severe pain ( like up my butthole lol) on random occasions that would make me cry.

I hated it! I swelled up like a ballon it made my depression worse. Oh and it went thru my uterus

I don't have it but it is my only option of birth control and I haven't heard a good word about it. im at risk for strokes so I cannot take hormones. Is it worth it to use IUD at all... or should I just stick with my non-latex condoms (allergic to latex too.. I know im hopeless lol)

If you can't take hormones, then mirena ISN'T for you, it's hormonal. I would probably go for the copper coil IUD(non-hormonal) or stick with the condoms.

We just use condoms now.... Before I got on pill we used pull out method for a year, but I was paranoid so took yaz, I was paranoid on that too, so I got shot got preg with jade, had baby took ortho for a year got fat and paranoid, put mirena in, got preg had baby, we just use condoms and in 15 months had 1 break, use morn after pill, I feel better with condoms, at least I know he uses them right and dosnt enjoy going to drug store at 3am so he makes sure hes on point lol

got mines on june 2011 at first i had a lot of bledding idk why when i used to have my period i would have it heavy god i hated it After a few monhts i had light periods like 2-3 days and as of today i still do light periods maybe 2 days and thts it IM HAPPY!

You gotta be willing to deal with bullsmurf with paraguard pretty much. Lol.
The first few days are cramp hell. I know it's the same with mirena .. But no with paraguard it's horrible. Then the bleeding the first couple months during your period is like you're 12 and bleeding through your pants again. Seriously I couldn't go anywhere . I was bleeding through super plus tampons AND heavy flow pads every 20 minutes. I felt weak. And the cramps were worse than labor. Not exaggerating lol. I mean I guess it's good cause of no hormones but I don't think it's worth the awful cramps and crime scene blood. -____-

Eff birth control, it all screws up your body. If it wasn't for us *maybe* wanting another baby in like 10 years I'd have gotten my tubes burned & cut by now! lol

Eff the mirena...only had it for like 6 months n had it takin out. I could feel it in there and so could DH even after the doc confirmed it was in the right place. Never again.
Oh and made me fat and still had regular periods...grrrr!!!! The ONLY pro was I didn't have cramps....whoopdy freakin smurf

I've always had issues with birth control so when a friend suggested Mirena, after the birth of my daughter, I tried it. I got it put in on August 17th (2 months after the birth of my daughter) and I loved it. However, I bled for 8 weeks straight. That was the only bad thing I could say about it. But it came out on its own as a matter of fact....today! I'm going to try the Paraguard this next time I can't do pills, Patch, Ring or shot. I'm surprised I could do the Mirena! But in the end everyone is different and everyone will have different opinions. It's your body and your lady parts!

I have a bad kid thanks to mirena  
I think it made him badder because he knew he wasn't supposed to be in there lol
