re: MIRENA IUD ?

posted 15th Jan
I had my daughter in 2006 and at my 8 week check up I got the Mirena IUD placed...I had no problem with it AT ALL for the 5 years I had it, my period stopped completely about the 2nd month in...I LOVED IT!! In August of 2011 I had to have it changed (it was at the 5 year mark). I had NOTHING but problems with the 2nd one...constant pain & spotting...This last October I started having HORRIBLE pain in my pelvis...I felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife...went into my Dr's office and discovered it fell and embedded itself into my cervix...had to have it removed, still having problems...I have to have surgery on the 22nd (next Tuesday) because the IUD possibly caused a lesion that's adhering to my cervix...I would stick to laytex free condoms (I'm allergic to laytex as well  ) lol...and keep the hormones out of your body!!

I have the Paragard right now. I have had it almost 4 years and am considering getting it taken out. I have a clotting disorder and cannot have anything with hormones in it so I probably will be getting my tubes tied. This paragard sucks. Why do you want to switch, if you don't mind me asking? I bleed like crazy, have unbelievable cramps and I get bad migraines.

I had my mirena for almost 3 years. I loved it while I had it because I never had a period while I had it. I got it removed November of 2011 and ever since then my AF's haven't been regular. I regret getting it now, DH and I have been TTC for over a year and no luck. I've had maybe 6-7 AF's since it was removed.

When i was pregnant, i had already decided to get mirena at my 6 week PP. My doc asked me if i was sure that is what i wanted and i said yes...im kind of regretting it now. I have been pretty much bleeding since i got in in early december. when i got my period this month..it was like two weeks ago, i havent really stopped bleeding. im not much for taking pain relievers because they normally dont work and the pain isnt bad enough, but today i took like 6 aspirins. i had horrible cramps in my right side, like right at my pelvic/ hip bone. im really starting to doubt this mirena stuff. i called my doctor to ask her if the bleeding was normal, she said that irregular periods are normal for the first three months but if im bleeding thru tampons and pads like crazy, then i should come in and take provera because my uterus wasnt done shedding.. she said that if that didnt work then we would have to remove it...i cant really afford to get it removed because they took my insurance away   and at the moment i dont have the money to pay a hospital/ doctor bill

i think im just going to try something else if this mirena doesnt fix itself out...it and my body have to make some kind of agreement because i cant cramp like this everytime i get my period, it sucks.

My OB/GYN told me that taking Provera would be useless because the Mirena IUD contains Provera. I bled for 8 weeks straight after I had mine put in. It was horrible. I wouldn't take Aspirin though as it is considered a blood thinner. I'm sorry you're having pain like that. I so hope you get over it. Mirena sucks.

mirena has a certain amount of provera in it, yes, but she wants to give me more of it so my uterus can shed the rest of the stuff..and then it will regulate my periods again until, i guess i stop getting them, if i do...and i took aspirin because its the only thing we have in the house. lol. if i had my choice i would have taken excedrin, lol..but yeah i hope this pain goes away to because i dont know how much more i can handle. i mean i can barely have sex because of it.

I had the mirena in for a few months. It caused me to have extremely bad headaches/migraines. Other then that I loved it. I was a little paranoid that it would get lost or puncture through. But I had it taken out I couldn't take the pain from the headaches anymore
