High risk appointment !?

posted 29th Dec
I have a high risk appointment with a specialist on the 8th. What should I expect? An ultrasound, pap, ect? If it makes a difference I'm high risk for preeclampsia and placenta Abruption.

I don't know, but let me know how it goes! I think my next will be high risk because I had a partial placental abruption and a hemorrhage with Ella.

I'm sure it varies as to what different OBGYNs do but the only difference with my high risk pregnancy was more frequent ultrasounds (mine did them at every appt) and the appts were closer together. I was high risk because of my heart condition though so they could do something else since it was a previous pregnancy issue for you.

I had a few of them and involved in my appointment was blood tests, checking my BP and telling me my chances of getting it again which was 1 in 6 and what would happen IF I got it. I have an amazing midwife so they look out for any symptom at every appointment and as soon as I get 1 symptom im sent off for a bloodtest to rue it out. Ive had uite a few blood test the past few weeks but in sayin gthat they have all come back clear. If any were to come back with beginning stages I was to be put in hospital for 24hours where they monitor my levels and blood pressure and me, baby etc then get put on pills and if that didnt work be induced. Ive had a healthy pregnancy and nearly due so im happy as to not go through what I did with DS. Good Luck   I hope it goes well for you.

What heart condition do you have ? I have one and am not high risk.

I have long QT syndrome and I have to take medication for it.....I also had a cardiac ablasion when I was 17 for AVNRT which they weren't able to completely fix so I have to be watched by a high risk dr and my cardiologist while pregnant. I really wanted a midwife when I was pregnant with my first but they refused to see me because of the possibility of complications.

I had to look yours up. So you must see an electrophysiologist? I have What they believe to be pots it's like Svt but incurable. I've also just started getting abnormal ekgs at all my cardiology appointments. I've also started getting really bad pannic attacks because I'm so scared something will happen to me whe I'm alone  this really sucks.

I looked yours up too lol.....it looks like my AVNRT is a type of SVT.....I was scared to death when I had my first episode of tachycardia. I was only 16 and I was laying on the couch perfectly fine and then I sat up and all I could feel was my heart racing throughout my entire body. My mom took me to the ER and they said that my heart rate was over 200 bpm. My dr tried telling us it was probably a 1 time fluke and didn't want to do anything about it but eventually, after enough complaining, he sent me to a cardiologist who did a 24 hr heart monitor. The results of that showed that I was having episodes of tachycardia I didn't even notice I as having. I was quickly sent for more testing and scheduled for an exploratory surgery. When they went in they found the bad area and they burned as much of it as they could (apparently the burned my heart 9 times) but they didn't want to get any closer to a part of my heart because it could have caused me to need a pace maker if they messed up. I haven't had any more issues with the tachycardia since the surgery though and it was an almost in and out procedure (stayed in the hospital over night and I had to stay flat for the first 10 or so hours). It had been 11 years (as of 2 days ago) now with no issues. I have to see the cardiologist though because of the Long QT which I have to take medication for the rest of my life for it. I have to have an EKG done once a year to make sure it hasn't prolonged anymore and when pregnant I have to see him every 3 months.
