Braces..

posted 28th Dec
I have braces, and I haven't been able to get them tightened or anything since I've been pregnant because I'm a baby when it comes to mouth pain- so bad that I'm prescribed percocets every time they get tightened. If I don't have strong pain medicine, I can't eat. So either way, I'm facing a problem. Anyway, my front teeth are starting to dramatically move to the left and it's hideous. You wouldn't notice it unless you were looking at my mouth for a good minute, but I notice it and I'm freaking out. I'm not due until April, so I've got a while until anything can be done (that I know of). So there wasn't necessarily a point to this post, I just had to vent. If by chance there is something I can do, help please? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Did it look terrible by time you could do anything? Yet another reason I can't wait until April!

Getting them tightened doesn't hurt, so no help there. I had my braces 14 years ago.

If you are so worried just deal with the pain and get it done. Have you spoken to your orthodontist? I don't think its a good idea to be letting it go on for so long, it could do more harm then just suffering a little pain.

You can go get your braces tightened... I had mine for two and a half years, had them through the entirety of one of my pregnancies. Don't smurf your teeth up just because you can't have pain meds.

Lol, me too. God, I feel old, lol.

I agree, though. Getting them tightened doesn't hurt, but the next couple of days suck when the ligaments are stretching. Just take some Tylenol and gargle warm salt water, OP.

Oh, and if you think braces hurt, wait til you push out that baby, lol.

If *I* were paying the money to get braces and have my teeth straight I would suck it up and get my braces tightened. It may hurt for a bit but not doing it can hurt your chances of getting them off any time soon. Seems like a waste of money

Thank you! Even getting them tightened hurts for me. Like I said, I'm a massive baby when it comes to mouth pain of any sort.

Pregnancy is probably the best time to have braces. I had tem my entire pregnancy with dd1. That's also the time I had NO pain during tightenings and my teeth moved quickly because of the hormones that cause your hips to be able to spread also affects yours teeth.

This was the 1st thing to cross my mind. Braces are like getting to eat a piece of chocolate compared to pushing out a baby.

And suck it up OP. don't smurf up your teeth just because you're scared of a little soreness.

Only quoting you because your the last to post. Lol

But it kinda goes to what you said. I paid for mine out of pocket. I'm not sure about OP though. I had monthly payments. :/ lol it sucked.

I just realized OP's only 17.

If I were your parent, I'd kick your butt for neglecting your teeth. Braces are not cheap.

I didn't pay for mine, but I was just a teen when I had them.
