No smurf! Mine were $4000 (my mom had to pay 50%) and that was 14 years ago. I can imagine they're more now.

Yeah I got mine when I was 18 bc some girl my senior year of high school told me I'd be really pretty if my teeth weren't so smurfed up. Her exact words. I became self conscious of them after that. I look back at my teeth now and realize I wasted $3600 because my teeth looked fine.   lol

Mine were only $2000, and our insurance wouldn't cover them so my mom paid for them through a payment plan.

I had mine nearly 3 years ago, my mom paid over $8k. She'd be damned if I pussied out of getting them tightened.

But yeah. OP suck it up. Your treatment time could be reduced because of your pregnancy. Plus honestly braces aren't as bad as your making them sound. Little kids get them and do fine without even tylonel. Just got get them adjusted and your teeth could and should be corrected.

I don't know about with an epidural but pregnancy causes lots of pain. Contractions hurt. Even if you have an epidural you will have contractions before going to the doctor unless you are induced. They also normally don't give you an epidural until a certain centimeter dilated.

OP how are you going to deal with the pregnancy and pain associated with that? When you can't get your braces tightened without pain pills

I haven't had braces in about 10 yrs but it's not that painful. Suck it up. Sure, not eating whatever you want for a few days sucks but it's not that bad. I have never heard of an orthodontist prescribing Percocet for braces. Not even me and I have EXTREME dental anxiety.

i got mine in '03. i don't remember price but i was in 6th grade and my mom flipped over everything i did. monitored what i ate and such. i was in such pain that one year (had them 3 1/2) i missed eating at Thanksgiving because my teeth hurt so bad i couldn't eat much. i'd have migraines and smurf and didn't take much more than tylenol, though i too have a low tolerance for pain so it didn't help much.

If i were you i would get them done cause my sister is a dentist and she told me having braces on for too long causes your roots too shorthen, and getting them tigthned shouldnt hurt , i had too go a year without getting them done cause i had no choice to be transfered over 17 hours away for my sick daugther to a special hospital and when i got back it was like startig all over again wich for me wasnt so bad cause i only needes them for a year, but i would understand about the elastics i dont even put mine to this point cause i just feel soo uncomfy bit i dont miss applointments to get them tigth! Just be carefull teeth are precious   but i dooo feel u for the pain and all that im the same way, but you can always take tylnol for pain too,
