I've been told manuals don't work very well. If you're going with a mnual because of money, they have a one breast electric one at walmart for $40, not sure just how well it works though.

i actually like the manuals better than electric. i had both with my first baby. i like that they are quite. small. portable and simple

I used the manual one the WIC office gave me. I think it was Madela. It didn't hurt your hand or your boobs. I could get 8-10oz in like 20min......course my boobs had been leaking for like 8wks before I had the baby, so my supply was NOT a problem.LOL

I bought an ameda double electric pump for nearly $300, it broke within 3 weeks. Then i bought an evenflo single manual, and it's worked fine. I don't use it regularly though, only to pump and dump, or when I was working, etc...

ETA: and the manual was only like $20 lol

I hate pumping all together but when I have to, I prefer my pump in style....Manual takes more work lol

I LOVE my medela harmony (the manual one) it doesn't take too much more time than an electric plus I'm a SAHM so I don't have to pump for often other than for engorgement or so DH can feed DS. If I were going to pump more, or going back to work, I would look into an electric pump just because it would be faster... but I figure I can use all the extra arm workouts I can get since DS is growing so fast!!

im a stay at home mom as well. and have a 2 year old. the outlets are weird in our house also. like weird places. also its easier to ust leave an electric in one spot.. but with the manual i feel like no matter where i am i can just pump real quick when needed. and not have to take all the time to "hook" myself up and less cords and stuff for my older one to want to play with and all that. and im a military wife. we moved about 10 hours away from our Hometown and I feel a manual one is great for in the car as well.  awkward....but works! lol I had done it with my son before lol and also to pump & dumb if we go out at somepoint.. i would rather bring a handy dandy manual pump rather than a big electric and try to find a spot to plug it in lol also feel like last time, the maunal cheapo FREE one the hospital gave me worked better than the electric one i borrowed from them
