So dd is 5 and went swimming with her fried at an I door hotel pool today. This is my first night in te hospital so I'm not at home to make a judgement call. But So just called me and said she woke up crying that hear throat, ear, hip, and chin are hurting. Mainly her throat and ear. She's crying and sobbing which is not like her. She doesn't have a fever. But I'm not there to make the judgement calls so I told SO to just take her to the ER since she doesn't usually cry and beg to go to the dr. Was this stupid of me?

Nope, you took care of your baby the bets you could without being there. Don't worry. Better safe than sorry.

Urgent care maybe, but better safe than sorry.
It is probably just Swimmers Ear, that is a bitch. But this way you know it isn't an ear infection or strep throat.

I would have given her Tylenol and water, and then watched her.

That's what I said at first when he was texting me. But then he called me and he was so distraught. And since I'm not there I didn't wanna risk giving him bad advice and skmehing happening its so hard not being home.

She has Medicaid so she can only go to her pedi or an er it sucks. And it's not like te pedi is open tomorrow to go to. So either way it's er of he had to go tomorrow.

I would have done the same for my five year old sister. Hope your little lady feels better soon.

I don't usually panic and run straight to the dr. But she doesn't usually cry like that about pain. Like she's whined and whimpered all drama like but never cried and begged to see a dr. Usually she wants to avoid the dr.

Same with my little sis, there's a fine line between her being melodramatic versus feeling seriously miserable.

Oh well then yeah for sure, better to get it looked at if there is something. Worst that is going to happen is they will diagnose her with Swimmers Ear lol.

Right. Will that hurt her throat? I figured she probably swallowed too much chlorine and it irritated her throat. But it's hard to say since I'm
Not there

Yes, because of inflammation. The mucus membranes are pretty much connected.

Probably just Tylenol and possibly an ear drop.
