Eh, I've read all the anti CIO stuff. I have 2 older kids, they never cried and now sleep on their own, in fact hey are poster children for gentle parenting. Thing is this baby does not sleep, he is a mess. He cannot function and thrive off of no sleep. It's just not healthy. If it was me that was bothered by it, I wouldn't mind buy its him that's suffering. He's exhausted all day every day.

do you think he is getting full after his feeding? have you tried like waking him up alittle to see if he will eat more..since you said it goes back and forth all night. or tried a fuller snack at night..im not saying this is what happens but maybe he is getting the munchies kind of thing.

I'm pretty sure he's full. I think 90% of his night waking is simply that he doesn't know how to fall back asleep once he wakes up unless he is nursing.
I do think about halfway through the night he is legit hungry but def not all of his wakings are about food.

your getting to a tough spot, got to get him to understand there are other ways to falling asleep. I used to rock mine to sleep.

Hmm, he hasn't lost any weight or anything? It does seem a bit strange that he is waking up so often to feed instead of sleeping. I am sorry he is not wanting to sleep. Perhaps something is going on with your milk supply and he is having to eat that often to get filled up?

He lost a tiny bit but nothing significant and it happened once he got mobile so I assume its from that.

My milk supply is fine, both of my older boys nursed all night as well but they napped so it wasn't a huge issue.

My DD went through a stage at like 8 months old where she would wake as soon as I put her in her crib to sleep and cry. Before this, I would always put her in her crib awake and she would always fall asleep on her own with no fussing at all. Before that, I used to feed her to sleep. What I did to avoid her associating needing to feed to go to sleep was rearrange her schedule. At 6 months old I had her on a very consistent schedule of feeding times and nap times and a strict bed time. I moved her bedtime up an hour... fed her her last bottle in a quiet area... changed her into her PJs and put her in her crib awake. When she started the issue at 8 months, I was torn on the CIO thing. I was never a fan of it. It got to the point where I had no choice. I do not believe in co sleeping, and her sleeping in my arms all night was not an option for me bc that means I don't sleep. The 1st night I tried CIO I failed miserably. I just couldnt do it. The next night, I had enough though. After hours of rocking her to sleep just to have her wake up as soon as I put her in her crib I was done. I put her in her crib, shut her door, shut mine, turned the monitor down... I could see her but just turned the volume all the way down. She cried for 25 mins... and so did I. She finally fell asleep and slept the entire night. The next night I put her in her crib awake and she cried for maybe 10 mins and slept the entire night. The next night she cried for less than 1 minute and slept through the entire night.... after that... she hasn't given us an issue at all. She falls asleep without a peep and sleeps through the night. CIO is one of the hardest things I have ever had to so. It is not for everyone and I didn't think it was for me.... but I got to a point where I had enough.
Wanted to add... Letting her cry for 25 mins straight was the way I had to do it... I could not do the Ferber method with her. When I tried that method, it just made things worse. Whenever I went in for the 5 min 10 min intervals, she would scream even worse than she was before I got in there. She is not the type of kid that this type of CIO worked with. I know a lot of people are against this, but it is what worked for us.
