Labor Inducing

posted 28th Dec
Ok. So i am 39 weeks pregnant and I have no dilation or anything at all yet. And I don't think she's even dropped fully. But my doctor says the baby is to small and he won't let me go over my due date with a small baby so if I don't go into labor on my own by Jan 2 then he will be inducing labor and forcing my cervix open. This sounds totally uncomfortable and it is so not part of my birth plan. Does any one have advice on how to induce labor on my own? Also has any one had to be induce by way if the cervix balloon and water breaking? How painful/uncomfortable is it? I really want to have a natural drug free birth. But I'm afraid she won't come on her own and I'm going to be forced to do all this uncomfortable stuff. Please helppppp

How does she know the baby is too small? I think she's using a lame excuse.

You can't induce labor. Women and tried and tried, but it's something that happens on it's own. How 'small' is your baby? Is the doc worried about IUGR? Because ultrasound measurements can be off by a pound or two either way.

get on your hands and knees and mop the floor.
Do some deep cleaning and dancing.
Have sex.
Bounce on birthing ball.

That's all I got.   lol

You can refuse an induction, just don't show up.

Have you tried bouncing on a birthing/yoga ball? This helps open your pelvis and get baby in position, which results in baby's head putting pressure on your cervix, which causes dilation. Evening Primrose Oil can be taken orally and vaginally to help ripen your cervix.

Do some squats, walk, have sex, and relax   Take a warm bath and relax.

I've heard of them inducing because baby is too big, but not too small... you'd think they'd leave baby in to cook as long as possible if she was too small. Sounds suspicious to me, I'd get a second opinion.

Well my belly has been measuring to small so he wanted an ultrasound to make sure she was getting everything she needed from the placenta. Everything looked fine but his measurements show that she's only 5 lbs right now so he doesn't want me to go over due in case the tests were wrong and she isn't growing any more or something like that.

You'd think they would want a small baby to stay in and bake a bit longer

If the baby has IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction), the baby doesn't grow in utero. Something holds it back. You think they'd notice it before now, though.

Nothing really works. You can always go walking & have sex to try to soften your cervix, but if baby isn't ready it won't work. I hope everything goes okay with your LO. My uncles gf just had a full term baby, actually went over because she refused induction & her son was very tiny 4 lbs, not sure how many oz. He is very healthy though, just very tiny.

They should do another u/s then. Not induce.   theming it's showing growth restriction induce. But not just induce for the heck of it.

if she doesnt come herself, then maybe your body just needs help. im 40 weeks 3 days and im only 1 cm and 75% effaced. have been for a week and been 1 cm for 2 weeks. my body isnt doing anything either, except my baby has dropped. but im getting induced on jan 2 just cause its policy not to go much past 41 weeks .

good luck, i hope your body decides to kick into gear
