my usual laundry
posted 28th Dec
routine, was:
pile,
wash,
dry,
pile,
dress kids out of pile.
One day, I was talking about it to my friend, and she says, 'No wonder you never put laundry away, you HANG up all your clothes'.... I was raised, you hang up your clothes, so naturally, thats what I have been doing as an adult,...
I stewed on her remark for a few days, kind of offended (Silly now, lol)...
Then I went and bought sock totes, and kids clothes totes, that fit on thier shelves in thier closets.... HOLY CRAP!! What a difference!!!!!! Laundry gets put away everyday, even mine, (I still hang mine and hubs) and there are no more baskets of laundry laying around!! It took a while to convince myself that it was ok, what do the kids care? When they get big enough to take care of thier clothes, I can teach them to hang it and whatnot, or fold it and stack it, but for now, this has been a huge lifesaver!
End babble.
What have you changed this last year that has helped you a ton? anything?

This. haha.
I only have two drawers in our dresser for myself anyway, so all of my clothes would NEVER fit in there.

I am almost the same... I wash it, dry it, fold it, and then hate putting it away... mostly it is becuase we don't have the space to put it away and are in the middle of moving but my kids are used to getting their laundry out of a basket lately and we fold some in drawers and some hang up in the closet...

I'm confused? you never put them away anyway, and now just don't put them away because they're in the kids rooms?
I always put clothes away, anything for school or going out gets hung up (shirts) pants and play clothes go in shelves and drawers. wrinkles clothes look trashy and dirty to me

I hate wrinkled clothes so I get mine out of the dryer when they are still warm, hang or fold, and put them away. I couldn't live with piles of clothes.

I was so good at putting laundry away before having the twins, now all the clean clothes are pretty much piled up in the laundry room.. I'm planning on changing that though it's too hard to find anything your looking for with this current method. lol

Do you not own dressers?
quoteposted 28th Dec
I hate folding, so I hang everything that can be. Hanging is far easier than folding...and far less wrinkly than dumping things in a basket or bin.

I'm confused too lol. And what do you mean by totes OP? Like Rubbermaid tubs? So now you just toss clean clothes in a tub? Do you fold the clothes? How is everything not all wrinkly? We always fold clothes and put them away. How is it that big of a deal to just put clothes away?

? What? I put them away, just thrown and seperated into totes now, instead of hanging everything up. The dresses and ties and stuff that wrinkles is hung in my closet.

As soon as it comes out the dryer, it gets folded up. Me or SO can't stand for our clothes to get wrinkled and I refuse to iron things lol. We have dressers and huge closets, so ours are nice and neat, put away. I've done the whole, putting clothes on the line I HATE IT! By the time the clothes get dried, they have a, I wouldn't say stinking smell to them, just no where near as fresh. And it leaves your pants feelings stiff as all get outs.

I don't hang out our clothes on the line for that reason alone... I hate stiff clothes!
