All she wants is momma!

posted 28th Dec
LO is 15 months. The last month or so, she wants nothing to do with anyone but me. She'll play and interact with people but if I'm not in the room or if she can't hear/see me...she freaks. She doesn't want much to do with her daddy or grandma or Aunts. At bedtime it's mommy putting her to sleep...she stayed up until midnight last Sunday waiting for me to be home from work. She'll "tolerate" daddy when I do have to go to work but all morning today Michael has been sending me pictures of her at the front door. I guess she just keeps going to it saying "Where Momma?" and when Michael says "At work baby", she'll shake her head and say NO NO NO!

Like...is this just a phase? I know she's been more clingy the last 4 days because I was off work for the holidays and she came down with the flu real bad on Christmas Eve. Every kid wants their mommy when they're sick!

I just wanna make sure this really is a "phase"....not sure as to what else it could be actually, just wanna see if it's a normal thing for a kid her age.

I'm flattered as twisted as it sounds, lol. If I had it my way she'd spend every second of every day with me and I'd never complain but I do work full-time.

Is there any way to change it though? Or is it just something she'll grow out of? It doesn't bother me any but I know it stresses her out and it actually hurts her daddy's feelings that given the "choice" she picks momma. :/

Just keep talking to her about why mommy leaves and try and get her excited about being with daddy. Maybe have them do a special activity together. My oldest is 3 and a total daddy's girl and she still has moments where mommy sucks and only daddy's will do. It does get easier though.

They have the whole day together on Fridays so next week I'll have to think up something fun for them to do together. Maybe sled riding or builing a snow man or the flea market. Cuz she'll play with him at home all day when I'm not there but the minute I get home he's invisible again. I feel awful during that time cuz I can see the hurt on his face. I try and explain to him it's just a phase and she loves her daddy but he's wrapped around her finger.   Makes me sad! lol.

This was good story about wanting mommas attention:
My twins measure is full when I can not teach them both at the same time and one of them need to wait. So this time daughter who need to wait for her turn, says angry:
- You shouldn’t have given birth to two children at once. it would be totally enough with just me.

My DD was like that at that age and she still is (she's 25 months now). She's gotten A LOT better, but it really peaked from 19-24 months. Her dad and I are divorced and he's in her life (the kids spend 60% with him and 40% with me), but she flat out tells him that she doesn't like him. When she sees her dad, she'll cling onto me because she knows she has to leave. When I go over to his house, she'll only cling to me. She was obsessed with me. I remember when she was about 16 months, she would seriously smother me with kisses every night and fall asleep while hugging me. As her who her best friend is..she'll almost always say Mommy (or Hello Kitty  ). And yes, it made me feel so good that I got all this attention from her... until it was too much! lol

But I suggested to my ex that he should take her out somewhere special or just do something special for her. Their relationship has gotten a lot better.

She told me today, for the first time ever, that she loves her daddy and wanted her daddy... not mommy.

It made me sad, but happy at the same time.
