interesting. My WIC office is almost like a doctors office its so sterile, and I havent had to bring my son yet except for my first appt.

might just be a small county. my new county only has one that i know of.

I breastfeed and instead of formula I get extra milk, cheese, and tuna. Also now that LO is 6 months I get twice as much baby food as a FF baby

I forgot about the fruit and veggies! super awesome. And my sons formula was pregestamil.... he was failure to thrive and couldn't have my milk because he was so sensitive to different foods. I couldn't figure it out and by then it was too late. So he had to have pregestamil. It was 29 bucks a can back then (3 ish years ago) I bet now its at least 30. WIC covered 8ish cans a month and saved us so much money. We need a prescription for the formula since its not the norm... as well as my sons goatmilk (he can't have cow or soy) but I'm very grateful/

I have never had to use WIC, but I have heard that it has helped out a lot of people. The biggest problem I have heard from some women is knowing what brands are WIC approved. I guess some grocery stores may not advertise well and I guess it can differ from store to store what brands you can get.

In the city I live in now, right next to the WIC office is a little store that only stocks the WIC approve food so my friends go right there to get cash in there coupons.

We also got 18$ worth of produce from the Farmer's Market. That was amazing.

i guess it wont hurt to call and make an appointment, if i find it more a pain than anything I guess i will just stop going. lol
i have a deep freezer too so i can freeze milk if i need it. Will they give my son almond milk for his intolerance i think he has?

I believe they won't do almond. I've never checked though. They do soy, goat and cow. Not sure how you feel about goat milk but if my son can do it I'm sure yours can. And my son loves it   But it never hurts to ask if they would do almond *shrug*

My wic office gave me formula even tho I was breast feeding because I was not producing enough they still gave me some of the BF mom benefits and gave me 6 cans a month for the baby because I was supplementing. I personally dont think its worth it BUT my son is on a special formula that you have to have special ordered so his insurance covers it.

You may need a note from his doctor to get special milk.

ive tried it and I cant stand it. lol i love goat cheese, but the milk is gross to me, i could always try it with him though

I understand. I'm not a fan. We dilute his goat milk with oat milk shhhh lol We don't tell the doc. But it makes the flavor of the goat milk a LOT better AND oat milk has lots of good minerals in it and is very healthy.

oat milk? ive never heard of that one!

its sweet   it tones down the goat milk and makes an awesome mixture. We make his "milk" 2/3 oat, 1/3 goat

I had to take him to be weighed, etc.
And then afterward, some people, like myself, just don't have the option of leaving their LO with someone, kwim?

And yeah ours was pretty gross, lol.
