Children and cameras

this stems from another post ` - do you trust your child with any device that can take a picture,
i only ask as the other day my 3 year old daughter was playing with my camera and she was taking pictures of herself completely innocently as they were just random parts of her body mainly her feet but there was one of her vagina and it made me feel uncomfortable so i removed it as soon as i discovered it which wasn't right away (i'm just glad no one had borrowed my camera), my review button does not work so i couldn't check what pictures she had taken until i got to a computer, she was sat with me when flicking through and when the one of her vagina came up she was rather proud of her self saying "look mummy, my tiny" i asked her how it got there (pointing to the screen) and she said "me" i didn't know what to say to her after that, i just told her she shouldn't do it - was i right to say that

Yes, I do. DD has a children's camera, a tablet, and plays with my phone, which all take pictures. I've never come across this problem.

Just make sure she's fully clothed next time she's playing with your camera.

My Son has a Leap Pad that takes pictures and his photos are of the floor, wall and people; never himself. I would honestly go into Momma Bear mode if he took a picture of his nude private part. I'd wonder where he got the idea from or why he thought that was normal or OK.

Novali has always played with cameras. She has never taken pictures of anything but her feet and face really.

I think your LO was just exploring with the camera... I don't see anything wrong with telling her not to take pictures of certain body parts as long as you don't make it sound like something shameful.

It's probably curiosity of her body. I wouldn't make a big deal of it. Just explain to her that she shouldn't take pictures of herself nude, but it's fine to be nude. I actually would of remarked on her good camera skills first, then told it it's time to delete them to make room for more pictures.

My now.4 yr old was using the camera on my moms phone one morning while my mom was getting ready for work, and about a week later my mom was going through her pics. My DD who was 3 at the time took pics of my mom getting dressed lol she had one of her putting her bra on. Lol it was funny. My mom thought so too.

She was glad tho that she didn't show ppl at work pics of the kids and those pics popped up. Lol

My son is fascinated with pics of his feet, hands, and the INSIDE of his mouth. He likes making faces for the cam.

If he took a pic of something he shouldn't, I'd tell him we don't take pics of naked people and leave it at that

My 2 year old has a kid camera, she takes (very blurry) pictures of random things, and my 4 year old has the LeapPad2, and she takes pictures and records videos of things, but never private parts.
Your daughter was probably just curious, just tell her private parts are private and not something we take pictures of.

im sure my daughter is a naturist in training lol, it really hard to keep clothes on her unless were outside lol

No, it's curiosity. Kids are curious about their genitals, just like discovering their hands as infants. It doesn't mean molestation is happening. Heck our five month old girl gets excited for diaper changes because she loves to squeeze her vagina..silly baby.

Not necessarily. Kids often have innocent curiosity and I think that's what's going on in OPs case. She just took a picture and thought it was silly.

Novali would walk around with my bra and puts up to her chest and scream "I have boobies!"   Kids don't understand "private parts" or modesty until they are taught.

I'm so glad Novali has never had an interest in her vagina... Not that I would think anything bad, but I know other people would think horrible things.

thank you ladies, i totally agree it was out of curiosity i was just worried people may have taken it the wrong way if they had seen the picture, people are so quick to jump to pedophilia these days
