Ultrasounds

My doctor hasn't given me an ultrasound since I was like 26 weeks and says that he won't give me anymore.... So I'm wondering if this is normal or should I still be getting ultrasounds or anything else done when I go in...I kinda feel like it's a waste of trip even going because I'm only in there for like 5 minutes.

1-2 ultrasounds is very normal, no need for them if they don't suspect anything is wrong and you had a normal anatomy scan.

Please continue to go to your prenatal appointments, though they don't do much, they do enough to know if something is wrong.

I had 2 with my 1st and 3 with this bub because the 3rd was a 3D scan and I paid for it  

My OB gave me a paper on what will happen at every appointment, and it only had ultrasound on there once. It also says things change depending on pregnancy of course, but I thought it was kinda weird that he only plans to do one. I'm getting a 3d one at 32 weeks, but i'm paying for it. I just really wanna see him growing! Who knew ultrasounds could be addicting?

My OB only does one for the anatomy scan at 18 weeks and that's it. I go every 2 weeks, he listens to the heart, measures my belly, then I leave. It's like 2 minutes but I always go because if there was something wrong and I didn't I could never forgive myself.

Most doctors only do one or two.

It's not a waste, they can still tell if everything is developing on track by the sound of the heartbeat and the measurement of your uterus. They also need to regularly check your blood pressure and urine to make sure you're not developing pre eclampsia, and you should be getting a glucose test soon for gestational diabetes.

Okay thanks everyone for the info.. I just thought it was weird that I only got a couple unltrasounds when all my friends that go to other doctors get an ultrasound almost every appointment.

It all depends on the doctor, insurance, and if it's medically necessary.

Yeah I know with high risk pregnancies they tend to get them a whole lot.

i had 5 ultrasounds only because little miss Gemma didnt want to cooperate and they couldnt see her spine. they had to keep repeating them until they could so they could make sure everything normal. if she hadnt been so stubborn i probably would have only had one or two.
