so umm... ready for potty training?

posted 27th Dec
well then! we were all watching the movie Brave.. then Emrie our youngest daughter, walks up and is practically having a fit about grabbing herself in the diaper area and kind of mumbling the sound of "pee-pee" possibly, so just because, i grab her and say lets go "pee-pee" she goes straight to the bathroom trying to open the door and nearly has a crazy fit trying to get her pj's off while standing at the toilet...i put her on and she dribbles out a little pee in the potty!

sooo i'm thinking this is her "sign" of hey mom, i'm ready... lol...

which is weird considering we don't really bring her in the bathroom when we potty or haven't really read a book about going potty.... not sure.. but apparently she knows?! with my first at around 2years old she was just starting to realize that she had gone potty in her diaper and telling us afterwards, she never told us prior to going. and we started potty training... but it was a long process for her, she never just "got it" like emrie decided to today... i wonder if Emrie will keep it up?

anyone have a child who just up and decided they were supposed to use the potty and kept doing it? and ditched the diapers? just curious

My daughter is that way. It started at around 18 months. If I let her run around the house in only a long nightgown or t shirt she would pee in the potty everytime. But if she had a pull up or diaper on she would go in that. When she turned 2 I started putting undies on her, and she would always go to the potty at home when she needed to go, but if we went out of the house she would have accidents. She also had trouble with pooping in the potty because she's really weird and has to run non stop in order to poop!

She's 2 1/2 now and fully potty trained. I had her wear a pull up to bed for the last month but for a few weeks she had been telling me she didn't want or need it, and fought me when I went to put it on. I told her if she could stay dry til the morning for a little while we would ditch the pull ups. She went a week without wetting her pull up at all at night, and has now been wearing her undies to bed for 4 days without an accident

My kids were that way. I have 3 potty trained children. I still have no clue how to potty train a child because they just did it. I wasn't ready for my last, I thought for sure he'd be my oldest potty trained child, but about a month ago he just decided one day he'd be potty trained. It was literally as if he woke up one morning and was all "smurf diapers, I'm using the toilet!" and that was that

My oldest was 20 months, and with all 3, they were instantly night trained as well. With my oldest I put her in a diaper at night for a week but I got tired of wasting diapers because she was waking completely dry. With my 5 yr old, he was 2 and a half, and I tried putting a diaper on him that first night and he threw the biggest fit so I decided to just see what happened. My plan was to wake him at 1 to take him pee, but at midnight he came downstairs, asked for a cup of water then went pee! My youngest on the other hand wets the bed still. He's getting a lot better, at first it was about 75% of the time, then 50% now it's maybe a night a week he wets. Like my 5 yr old, he refuses to let a diaper touch his butt, so we just deal   I am not sure how it happens, but all 3 of mine it was like a switch flipped with them. I can count on one hand the number of accidents we have had with all 3 put together. I remember my daughter's one and only accident was at Six Flags, and it was in a movie type attraction, and it scared her so badly she peed all over DH LOL
